Study from liberal think tank proves illegal immigrants responsible for huge crime sprees across America

(NaturalNews) The Migration Policy Institute (MPI), which Breitbart describes as a liberal think tank, has issued a new report on illegal immigration showing that nearly one million illegal aliens currently residing in the U.S. have criminal convictions on their records.

Countering the official narrative that illegal immigration is somehow beneficial to Americans, the report proves that illegal immigrants are responsible for much of the crime that occurs throughout the U.S. And because these aliens are undocumented, they're even harder to find and convict than American citizens who commit similar crimes.

Some 820,000 illegal aliens living in the U.S. right now, reports Breitbart, are convicted criminals. Breitbart references this report from the Migration Policy Institute (MPI). Of these, 690,000 have been convicted of a felony or "serious" misdemeanor. And both of these numbers, reports Breitbart, are likely much lower than actual crime figures, which are difficult to calculate due to the high number of aliens who escape arrest and conviction.

In the appendix to the MPI report, it's noted that the 820,000 figure came about by "assuming unauthorized immigrants and lawful noncitizen immigrants commit crimes at the same rates." But illegal aliens are more likely to be young and male, and Breitbart points out that MPI is using flawed logic:

MPI's assumption is still overly-generous. The mere fact that illegal aliens are more likely to be young and male than aliens in general makes the assumption flawed. The true population of criminally-convicted illegals is almost certainly quite a bit higher.

Furthermore, the MPI report only accounts for the total population of criminal aliens who are caught, arrested, tried and convicted for their crimes. There are literally millions of crimes committed annually by illegal immigrants that never result in a conviction, further skewing the true criminal impact of these illegal invaders, according to Breitbart.

"[L]ess than half (48.9 percent) of violent felony arrests in New York City result in a conviction and sentence," cites Breitbart, referencing a report from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

In illegal alien-dominated areas, most outstanding warrants are for illegal noncitizens

Logically speaking, the actual crime rate within the illegal immigrant population is likely much higher than these reported figures due to the fact that keeping tabs on illegal immigrants is harder than it is for documented citizens. Illegal aliens may be more likely to run when faced with arrest or prosecution, for instance, and their communities, particularly those dominated by criminal gangs, are probably less likely to turn them in to police.

Police forces are having an increasingly difficult time not only arresting but simply identifying illegal immigrant killers, with the national homicide clearance rate now hovering around 64.1 percent -- this, compared to a roughly 90 percent clearance rate 50 years ago, according to the Washington Times.

The Washington Times attributes this to "higher closure standards and more crimes being committed by gangs and drug dealers who may have no local footprint and/or encourage 'no snitch' mentality."

Illegal aliens on the run are also more likely to flee the country and head back to their homeland when faced with potential arrest and criminal conviction, a luxury that American citizens, who have no safe haven or "sanctuary city" to flee to, don't have at their disposal.

"In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens," says Heather MacDonald, a scholar from the Manhattan Institute, as quoted by Breitbart. "Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens."
