(NaturalNews) A top executive from the world's most evil corporation recently admitted before an audience of pining agriculture students that his company has "an entire department" devoted to shoveling out pro-GMO propaganda to counter all the independent science suggesting that GMO crops and their respective chemicals are harmful to the environment and human health.

Dr. William "Bill" Moar from Monsanto, upon being questioned about how the biotech giant handles all the "bad science" out there about GMOs damaging gut bacteria and Roundup causing cancer, responded with enthusiastic waving that Monsanto has an entire ministry of disinformation set up to essentially churn out lies denying that the company's products are in any way dangerous.

Daily Kos writer Stephanie Hampton, who attended the event, tells of how Moar openly admitted to Monsanto's meddling in the affairs of scientific progress by "debunking" its critics. This elusive discrediting department, which isn't listed on the Monsanto website as even existing, presumably uses lobbyists, company "scientists" and social media crusaders to redirect the conversation whenever "negative" press or science questions the safety of Monsanto products.

A perfect example of this is the recent admission by the World Health Organization's (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup herbicide, is a probable human carcinogen. Reuters has reported that Monsanto's vice president of global regulatory affairs Philip Miller is none too happy with the finding and is now demanding that the studies exposing this fact be retracted.

Glyphosate responsible for damaging DNA and causing cancer, research finds

Mind you, the IARC's determinations about glyphosate weren't just pulled out of thin air. Researchers publishing their work in the respected journal The Lancet Oncology found that glyphosate, in addition to tetrachlorvinphos, parathion, malathion and diazinon (all chemical herbicides and pesticides), are all cancer-causing agents that deserve further scrutiny by government regulatory bodies.

"Glyphosate has been detected in the blood and urine of agricultural workers, indicating absorption," reads the review. "Soil microbes degrade glyphosate to aminomethylphosphoric acid (AMPA). Blood AMPA detection after poisonings suggests intestinal microbial metabolism in humans."

"Glyphosate and glyphosate formulations induced DNA and chromosomal damage in mammals, and in human and animal cells in vitro. One study reported increases in blood markers of chromosomal damage (micronuclei) in residents of several communities after spraying of glyphosate formulations."

This important study counters the myth that agricultural chemical products like glyphosate are unequivocally safe, which is the claim often made by Monsanto and its flunkies in the mainstream media -- even claiming that you can drink a whole quart of it without being harmed. But there isn't a shred of actual evidence to prove that glyphosate is inert in humans, yet there is plenty to demonstrate quite the opposite.

The only studies, in fact, to suggest the safety of GMOs, glyphosate and other agricultural chemical products are those originating from the pseudoscience divisions of corporations like Monsanto. The rest point to accumulations of glyphosate in the environment and on food crops, and the uptake of this poison and its various byproducts by animals and humans.

Research conducted by Moms Across America and Sustainable Pulse, for instance, have determined that roughly 70% of American households are currently drinking glyphosate-contaminated drinking water. Multiple other studies have found high levels of glyphosate in human urine and breast milk, sometimes at levels 20 times or more beyond the legal limit for drinking water.

"For the herbicide glyphosate, there was limited evidence of carcinogenicity in humans for non-Hodgkin lymphoma," explains the IARC monograph .[PDF] "Glyphosate also caused DNA and chromosomal damage in human cells."
