The dairy industry has found a new myth to propagate, and they're pushing it full force: that cow's milk causes you to lose weight. It's a lie, of course, since milk is, in fact, an extremely high-fat beverage (and saturated fat, too!).
Don't believe me? Check the nutrition facts for a gallon of 2% milk. You might think it's only 2% fat, right? But in fact, 30% of the calories are from fat. And it's the kind of fat that has been scientifically linked to heart disease, atherosclerosis and other health problems.
The dairy industry is great at marketing. First they claimed milk was good for your bones (a dubious claim, since cow's milk is rather deficient in nutrients needed to build bones like magnesium and vitamin D), and now they're claiming it can help you lose weight.
Personally, I don't know a single person of healthy body weight who drinks cow's milk, and I wouldn't touch it if you paid me. Aside from the chronic sinus infections, asthma and constipation caused by cow's milk, the beverage also contains homogenized fats which are proven to promote cardiovascular disease. Even beyond that, milk is loaded with pus -- yes, pus -- that nearly always exceeds the pus levels allowed by federal law. Cow's milk also contains blood, hormones that have been banned in most civilized countries, and potentially pesticides and other toxic chemicals that have been fed to the dairy cows. If you love drinking pus, blood, and cancer-causing hormones, cow's milk is the perfect product for you. But if you really want to lose weight, ditch cow's milk and turn to a much healthier beverage: soy milk.
