(Natural News) For many years, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation were promoted as the only effective options in the treatment of cancer. In recent years, however, an increasing number of people have been turning to alternative ways to beat this deadly disease. One of the most popular – and effective – of these natural treatments is the once vilified cannabis plant.

Initially, many cancer patients turned to cannabis primarily as a natural and effective way to treat pain. However, more recent studies have found that cannabis might actually trigger apoptosis, the process by which cancer cells essentially commit suicide. And while proving deadly to malignant cancer cells, cannabis does not destroy healthy cells in the way that conventional cancer treatments do.

Interestingly, polls have found that even most mainstream cancer healthcare providers believe that cannabis could provide real benefits to cancer patients.

And recent reports indicate that an increasing number of celebrities share their belief and are turning to cannabis to treat their cancer – a choice which has proved to be lifesaving for many of them, including actress Olivia Newton-John and actor and comedian Tommy Chong. Cannabis helps Olivia Newton-John win her decades-long cancer battle

Olivia Newton-John – famous for her role as Sandy in the movie Grease – has been battling cancer for decades. After successfully beating the disease in 1992, she had to battle recurrences in 2013 and again in 2017, when she was struck with stage 4 breast cancer which eventually spread to her back.

Newton-John claims that a combination of traditional medicine, cannabis and various herbs not only helped her to beat the disease but also to wean off the use of morphine to combat pain.

She describes her recovery as “so incredible,” adding that her tumors are all either receding, going away or staying the same, which is “pretty amazing” for stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

“If I hadn’t had the experience I’m having with cannabis I wouldn’t be able to talk about it,” she said recently, adding, “For me the proof is in the pudding and I’m the pudding.”

Cannabis has enabled her to recover from many months of what she describes as “excruciating, sleep-depriving, crying-out-loud pain.”

Ms. Newton-John is so passionate about the cancer-beating potential of cannabis that her Cancer and Wellness Centre has launched scientific trials and she is lobbying the Australian government to approve it as a cancer treatment. Comedian Tommy Chong has the last laugh, beats cancer

Back in 2012, actor and comedian Tommy Chong announced that he planned to treat his prostate cancer with hemp oil. A year later, he revealed that he had beaten the disease with a combination of cannabis oil and a proper diet.

“Dr. McKinnon in Victoria, BC … changed my diet and put me on supplements, and within a year I brought my PSA numbers down drastically and eliminated the cancer threat,” he announced at the time. “ I also treated the condition with hemp oil (hash oil). With the diet, the supplements and the hash oil, plus a session with a world-renowned healer, Adam Dreamhealer, I’m cancer-free. That’s right, I kicked cancer’s ass!”

Seven years later, Chong is still healthy and is now a staunch advocate for the legalization of medicinal cannabis.

As studies continue to confirm the amazing cancer-busting benefits of cannabis, more and more people – including celebrities – will likely turn to this natural and effective treatment to beat one of our greatest enemies, cancer.
