More Florida students walk out over guns — not in protest but in SUPPORT of the Second Amendment

A wonderful thing happened the other day that was almost universally ignored by the disgustingly dishonest Pravda media because it ran counter to a couple narratives pushed by the “mainstream” press.

About 75 students at a Central Florida high school who felt they have been misrepresented by anti-gun student activists in recent weeks following the shooting at a Parkland, Fla., school in February walked out of classes for about 20 minutes Friday in support of the Second Amendment.

What a concept: Using the First Amendment to actually support another constitutional right instead of calling for its repeal.

As reported by The Washington Times, citing local media, the Rockledge High School student walkout came about two weeks after thousands of students from around the country participated in the National Student Walkout to protest guns and honor the 17 victims — 14 of whom were students — killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School by alleged shooter Nikolas Cruz.

The national walkout was organized by Left-wing groups such as Youth Empower, which is a division of the Women’s March, a group that has staged two nationwide protests against President Donald J. Trump (nothing new there).

Those who organized Friday’s protest at Rockledge (which you never heard about, right?) told local media they were upset by the fact that the National Student Walkout was supposed to honor the 17 Parkland victims but wound up being little more than a massive anti-gun event culminating in calls to repeal the Second Amendment.

One Rockledge co-organizer, Chloe Deaton, who wore a t-shirt that said, “My rights don’t end where your feelings begin,” told local media, “I’m just saying that we should not let our rights be taken because someone else does something wrong.”

Which is pretty much what every other gun owner and non-owner who believes that laws cannot trump (sorry!) a sick culture has said.

We don’t have a gun problem, we have a culture problem. If you don’t think that’s accurate, can you imagine our founders fighting for the right to arm a bunch of lawless murderers? I can’t.

Deaton, along with co-organizer Anna Delaney, said they are supportive of a plan to train and arm school staffers. “I personally believe it’s a good idea, as long as they’re trained and have the knowledge,” Delaney said.

“If [they] are capable, we should allow it. They’re just going to tell us to hide during a school shooting?” said John King, a junior. (Related: Leftist gun-grabber darling David Hogg demands apology over college rejection jab: Where is HIS apology to NRA, gun owners for his vile attacks?)

“It’s all over the news right now that all students hate guns,” added Zachary Schneider, a junior. “I wanted to show that not all students feel that way.”

The Times noted that at least 15 schools in Brevard County, where Rockledge is located, participated in the national gun-hating event last month. Imagine how many students would show up for a pro-gun event if they were organized and energized by the kind of money it took to put the National Student Walkout and subsequent anti-gun event in Washington, D.C., and other cities held a couple of weeks ago?

My guess is there would be untold thousands who would show up.

Derek Weida, a wounded warrior who lost part of his right leg in Iraq but used that to motivate him to become a fitness guru, gave some ‘advice’ to the Left’s latest anti-gun darling, David Hogg, last weekend.

“It’s not a gun problem, not a people problem, it’s a culture thing,” wrote Weida. “America loves guns. Accept that just like I had to accept that America loves God. Don’t ever be so quick to tell a whoooole lot of people how to live.”
