STUPID: Corn syrup for the apocalypse? Food storage companies use corn syrup solids to fatten you up

Survival food

(NaturalNews) If you're in the market for storable food, buyer beware: a lot of what you'll find on the market today is a chemical nightmare. Think genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), synthetic preservatives, monosodium glutamate (MSG) and its various derivatives, hydrogenated oils, and pesticide and herbicide residues – everything you don't want to put inside your body when your life is potentially on the line.

With the seemingly extreme volatility of today's world, many people are looking to stock up on food and other supplies that will last them for a good while should the lights go out, driving our "just-in-time" delivery system to a screeching halt. There's nothing wrong with taking such precautionary measures, except when it involves sacrificing your dietary standards on the altar of convenience.

Many of the most popular storable food brands – companies like WISE Foods, Mountain House, Legacy Premium, and various others – claim to offer the best food in the industry. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this isn't always the case: anyone who can read an ingredients label will immediately see that what these companies advertise and what they offer to the public are, in some cases, diametrically opposed.

Take WISE Foods, for instance. This company uses a host of additives in its products, including corn syrup solids that bulk up food and give it a sweeter taste, but that provide nothing in the way of solid nutrition. Many storable food companies, in fact, utilize corn syrup solids – more often than not GMO – as a filler to cut costs and maximize profits.

The following storable food brands all use corn syrup solids in their products:

• WISE Foods
• My Patriot Supply
• Chef's Banquet
• Augason Farms
• HoneyVille

These companies collectively represent a bulk of the storable food market, and it's a safe bet that most of their customers don't actually realize what they're buying. With meal names like "Cheesy Lasagna" and "Savory Stroganoff," the impression is created that these foods are no different than grandma's home cookin', when in fact they're anything but this when it comes to their nutritional content.

'Corn syrup solids' is often just powdered high-fructose corn syrup

In case you were wondering what "corn syrup solids" actually is, it's basically just high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in powder rather than liquid form. That's right – a sweetener that represents one of the worst offenders when it comes to contributing to childhood obesity is a major ingredient in many of the most popular storable foods.

HFCS is actually worse than normal table sugar because it directly interferes with hormones in the body that tell a person to stop eating. In essence, HFCS causes people to overeat, not to mention the fact that fructose is inherently damaging to insulin production, hence why obesity and type-2 diabetes are now abundantly prevalent.

The good news is that there are better options when it comes to storable food, one of which is the Numanna Organic Survival Food system. Developed by Mike Adams, the Heath Ranger, director of the esteemed Consumer Wellness Center (CWC), Numanna storable food is free of all the things you wouldn't want to put inside your body.

Numanna contains no GMOs, no refined sugars, no ingredients that might contain residues of pesticides or herbicides, no hydrogenated oils, no chemical preservatives, no artificial colors, no hidden forms of MSG, and nothing synthetic whatsoever.

"Almost everything we use is certified ORGANIC, meaning it's not grown with pesticides and herbicides," says Adams about Numanna, which he personally uses as his storable food supply. "We don't use GMOs, either. No hidden MSG. No corn syrup ingredients. No maltodextrin, hydrolyzed corn or autolyzed yeast extract. We don't use those ingredients because we want our storable food to be wholesome, not toxic."
