(NewsTarget) Sage is a wonderful herb that can add flavor to soups, salad dressings and juices. The herb also has anti-inflammatory and powerful memory enhancing qualities. In trials, even small amounts of sage have been shown to significantly boost memory recall. It's also been known since 2003 that the root of the Danshen or Chinese sage contains compounds that are very similar to the drugs used to treat Alzheimer's disease, which makes it a safer alternative. The herb has also been used for over 1,000 years to treat other brain related problems. Sage has even been found to improve the interconnectivity of the different parts of the brain, which should be important for everyone, with Alzheimer's or not.

One of sage's anti-oxidants, carnosic acid, can even cross the blood brain barrier to halt free radical damage in the brain. The same anti-oxidant increases our own production of glutathione, an important anti-aging anti-oxidant - which improves circulation to the brain by dilating the cerebral middle arteries. Glutathione is actually used to treat all sorts of brain diseases, from autism to Alzheimer's. Having good blood flow to the brain is important, and low blood flow to the brain can acerbate, and even cause, other problems of the brain.

Sage also has anti-fungal, anti-viral and antibacterial properties. Plus, it's high in iron and has been found to effectively relieve mild to moderate anxiety states. In addition, in a 2010 analysis of over 3100 foods, sage had one of the highest anti-oxidant contents.

Sage has a wonderful savory flavor and it's a wonderful addition to lentil and other homemade soups, including many raw blended soups. If you make your own salad dressings using olive oil, lemon and sea salt as a base, adding fresh sage and tomato is wonderful too. Sage leaves can also be added to fresh juices and they are particularly delicious in tomato juices. Just run your tomatoes through your juicer with the leaves. Sage tea is also common and is made by seeping some leaves in boiling water and adding a natural or herbal sweetener, like stevia.

Of course, with brain and other problems, it's important to remember that common toxins are almost always at the root of the problem, and so while herbs are definitely helpful, detoxification is too. And with any disease, why wait until you're suffering to take action? It's easy to start adding all sorts of fresh herbs to your diet regularly, and as they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

About the author

Kim Evans is a natural health writer and author of Cleaning Up! The Ultimate Body Cleanse. Cleaning Up! offers deep cleansing and using methods in this book, people have gotten rid of dozens of different types of health problems, as well as just losing excess weight, thinking more clearly, and feeling better.

Kim's next book chronicles events in her life that happen to match patterns in the Bible. She's also found three places in the Bible that tell us its about these patterns and even asking you to match them.
Here's a little from the upcoming book...
In Isaiah 22:20, it says, "And it must occur in that day that I will call my servant, namely Eliakim." But, because these prophecies are cryptic and they aren't meant to be understood until they are understood, it's only the last three letters.
A few lines later, it says, "From the land of Kittim it has been revealed to them."
Here, you just take out any three middle letters, and again, it's the name of the person bringing you this message, or the sacred secret of the prophecy. Actually, if you take those two passages, Kim is about the only name you can get from both of them.
In Numbers 1:1 – 1:18, it's talking about "the family" and mentions Pagiel. It also twice mentions February 1st, (Kim's birthday) and then says that the youngest is 20 years old. Kim's little sister Paige is currently 20 years old.
In Chronicles 1 11:20 it mentions the brother of Joab and then in the same sentence uses the word brandishing. Kim's middle name is Jo and her older sister's name is Brandi. There are other patterns to her sisters too but these sort of mention them by name.
Of course, it helps if you know that there is a magical spiritual reality available that comes deep cleansing and often major dietary upgrades. It's also why Jesus was teaching the same thing, if you find his teachings in the Essene Gospel of Peace. In this text, he even says things like, "You'll never see the father unless you clean your colon." But, this is paraphrased...
In the Bible Jesus says things more like, happy are those who wash their robes, as they can enter the tree of life. The tree of life is elsewhere explained as God's paradise. He also said, first clean the inside of the cup and then the outside will also be clean.
