(NewsTarget) Even though no universal cure has yet been found for HIV/AIDS, People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) know that the best therapy to manage it is good nutrition, natural therapies and healthy living habits. Any sensible approach to managing HIV/AIDS will include ways to keep the liver functioning at its best. Here's a tonic that's good for anyone who wants a happy, healthy liver.

Give the immune system the best support through detoxification and good nourishment. This will certainly delay the day one must resort to drug therapies. Even if one is on Anti Retro-viral Therapy (ART), one should continue detoxing the liver regularly.

Healthy Liver
It's the liver's job to remove the body's own waste products (i.e. urea, etc) and oxidants. The liver processes fats and aids digestion. Additionally it detoxifies the blood from toxic substances ingested through environmental pollution, additives in processed foods, medical drugs, street drugs, cigarettes and alcohol. Excess fat and sugar in the diet adds a burden making it even more difficult for the liver to do its job. Follow all the rules of natural, healthy eating to keep the liver lively.

Whole Lemon-Olive Oil Drink
Whole Lemon-Olive Oil Drink can be taken daily or weekly. PLWHAs drinking it daily have reported remarkable improvements in some common symptoms of AIDS such as Wasting Syndrome (weight loss), Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) and Neuropathy (numbness).

- 1 lemon or lime, organic preferred
- 1 cup of water
- 2-3 teaspoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/2 cup of orange or fruit juice, molasses or honey (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon of lecithin (Optional, but especially good for neuropathy)

The tremendous benefit from whole lemons in this recipe may outweigh the detriment of using non-organic produce. If you can't access organic lemons, be sure to scrub off chemical residues. Cut up the whole lemon, rind and pulp included, and put into an electric blender or manual grinder. Add the other ingredients. Blend at high speed for one minute or mash through the grinder.

Remove the pulp through a strainer using a spoon to press the pulp dry. Discard the pulp. Divide the resulting drink into 2 or 3 portions.

To gain weight, drink one portion with each meal. Otherwise, drink it all at once. If you have problems sleeping, drink the last portion just before sleep.

Orange juice is added as a sweetener. However, if you have thrush (candida), avoid sugars and fruit juice and use only plain water.

Why Whole Lemon-Olive Oil Drink Works
Olive Oil increases the flow of bile from the liver. The lemon juice and olive oil combine together to flush toxins from the liver. Lymph will then be able to drain into the liver for processing and eliminating waste products.

Lemon juice helps to dissolve minerals in the food for better assimilation. This drink can be used with all dietary supplements to improve assimilation into the body. Some PLWHAs have reported that just drinking lemonade (lemon, water and a pinch of salt) reduces lymphadenopathy.

The pectin from lemon peel restores absorption of fats. In AIDS progression, fat and essential fatty acids are not well absorbed. The pectin from citrus rinds and from cooked pears or apples will help in the assimilation of fats and oils. Usually, when oil is added to water, it will not mix. However, notice that the olive oil is totally dispersed throughout the whole lemon drink. This is due to the pectin in the rind. In addition, the lemon juice breaks down proteins making them easily digestible. The proof of absorption of the oil into the body is indicated by the rapid return of saliva pH to normal levels of approximately pH 7,2
