Aspartame is a hidden schedule II narcotic

Aspartame

(NaturalNews) You're probably thinking, "Did I read the headline right?" or maybe, "Is the headline right?"

The answer to both questions is "yes." Artificial sweetener aspartame is indeed a Schedule II narcotic, because the methanol in aspartame affects dopamine levels in the brain, which can lead to addiction. Methanol, or wood alcohol, is classified as a severe metabolic poison.

Furthermore, aspartame is a dipeptide molecule that is produced by joining phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Obviously, then, aspartame does not occur naturally, but instead is a manufactured substance. When it is consumed, it is broken down completely by digestive system enzymes into two amino acids – and a type of alcohol known as methanol.

What does it mean for methanol to be a Schedule II narcotic? As reported by Sarah Barendse:

"Schedule II substances have high abuse potential and severe psychological and/or physical dependence liability. Examples of schedule II substances include narcotics, amphetamines, and barbiturates. Prescriptions for schedule II substances can never be ordered with refills and must be filled within 7 days of the date originally written."

Three quarters of reported adverse reactions to food additives attributed to aspartame

Nonetheless, millions of Americans buy diet soda containing aspartame, and are even encouraged to drink it because diet sodas are marketed as health products.

According to independent researchers and experts, aspartame can cause a variety of symptoms including, but not limited to, headaches, memory loss, vision loss, depression, seizures, coma, cancer and other conditions. It can also mimic symptoms of diseases like MS, lupus, attention deficit disorder, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

This man-made compound can also be dangerous if you consume it while taking certain medications, or if you eat processed foods containing monosodium glutamate (MSG). It also induces cravings for carbohydrates which summarily leads to weight gain.

As Natural News has reported, there are many reasons why aspartame is dangerous:

"75 percent of reported adverse reaction to food additives is attributed to aspartame. Of these reactions, many are serious and include seizures and death. A number of the 90 documented symptoms as reportedly caused by aspartame are headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, rashes, depression, irritability, insomnia, hearing loss, vision problems, loss of taste vertigo and memory loss.

"Those who study the adverse effects of aspartame report that the following medical conditions are triggered or worsened by aspartame: brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, mental retardation, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, lymphoma, birth defects, diabetes and fibromyalgia."

It slowly begins to destroy neurons

Russell Blaylock, a former neurosurgery professor at the Medical University of Mississippi who now does nutritional studies and research, has described aspartic acid as an isolated amino acid equally as toxic as glutamate. Aspartic acid is an excitotoxin, he says, a chemical that excites the brain sometimes to the point of death. In addition, it changes the manner of brain formation in newborns, which can result in permanent hyperactivity and other behavioral changes.

"In its free form, unbound from proteins, it significantly raises the plasma level shortly after ingestion. The excess aspartate in the blood shortly after ingestion leads to high levels in certain areas of the brain," we previously reported. "It slowly begins to destroy neurons and a large part of neural cells in a particular area of a brain are destroyed before any clinical symptom of an illness is noticed. Reported physical effects after long exposure to excitatory amino acid include Parkinson's disease, brain lesions, neuroendocrine disorders and hypoglycemia to mention a few."
