Dr. Phil exposes government kidnapping of babies and false accusations of Shaken Baby Syndrome leveled against innocent parents

Medical kidnapping

(NaturalNews) One of the heartbreaking aspects of life in an increasingly authoritarian state is the increased incidence of medical kidnappings being perpetrated by so-called child "protective" services.

We see plenty in the media regarding killer cops and the rise in abuses carried out by law enforcement agencies, but we hear very little about babies being wrongfully taken away from their mothers – perhaps because it's not as sensational as a cop shooting an unarmed teenager.

One such case has received national attention recently, however, thanks to the Dr. Phil show, where the wrongful actions of the authorities involved were exposed in front of millions of viewers.

The case involved a North Carolina family whose four-month-old son was removed from their custody after suffering health problems which were misdiagnosed as Shaken Baby Syndrome and child abuse.

Ironically enough, the mother of the child, Marty Peele, was a respected member of a community in which she had taken care of others' children for 17 years, earning her a reputation as a "baby whisperer" due to her ability to soothe and calm infants when no one else seemed to be able to do so.

Upon her son Micah's birth, after eight previous miscarriages and a difficult delivery, Peele noticed from the beginning that there seemed to be something wrong with her "miracle child."

In Marty Peele's own words:

We practiced attachment parenting in our home (baby wearing, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, non vax, no circ, gentle parenting style) but my handsome boy was unhappy. We had multiple doctors visits and even a couple ER visits where my mama intuition said something is JUST not right.

The nightmare begins

After many visits to doctors during the first four months, in which Peele was told that there was nothing wrong with Micah, one day the mother picked her child up from the crib and noticed something that definitely seemed wrong – and that's the day the real nightmare began:

When my son was almost four months old I picked him up out of his crib – it didn't feel right under his left arm, like a popping feeling. My fiance and I went straight to the hospital. When we got to x-ray they would not allow us to stay in the room with him. They told us that they had found multiple fractures of my son's ribs. First we were just blown away, very shocked. Shortly thereafter, the social worker from the hospital came in and she looked right at us – she said 'I know that you guys abused your son.' Very first thing she said. The police came. The detective screamed at me, he cursed at me, he told me I was the worst f****** mother he had ever seen. He told me they were going to put me under the f****** jail.

From then on, things just got worse. Peele was charged with child abuse and her bail was set at $400,000. Micah still remains in state custody 19 months later – even after numerous doctors examined him and found that the injuries were caused by a combination of medical issues, and not because of abuse.

Hopes for reunification

Dr. Phil's coverage of the story included the testimony of several medical experts who all agreed that the child was not abused and should be returned to his parent's custody. The Dr. Phil segment and a petition to the governor may be successful in reuniting the Peele family again after their long ordeal.

Unfortunately, countless other similar cases occur on a daily basis throughout the United States, and no one hears about them. Families are being torn apart and innocent parents charged with crimes they did not commit.

Isn't it time we reexamine our child protective services system and find ways to prevent these sort of occurrences?

To be fair, it's preferable to err on the side of caution when protecting children – sadly, there are many real cases of child abuse – but in all such cases, impartial and thorough investigations are called for.

After all, our judicial system is based on the concept of "innocent until proven guilty." In the case of the Peeles and thousands of other families, justice is not being served.
