(NaturalNews) It's no secret that most of the Hollywood elite lean very left politically, so it comes as no surprise that this same crowd is filled with diehard fans of President Obama. They have raised money for him, have publicly lauded him and now, it seems, are working covertly to convince Americans of the virtues of the president's signature piece of legislation - the Affordable Care Act.

As reported by Breitbart News, one effort involves the Writers Guild of America, East. According to an email invitation obtained by the news website, "members of the Hollywood elite and the Obama Administration will be gathering in the middle of next month for a panel titled, 'The Affordable Care Act: Comedy, Drama & Reality - Portraying ObamaCare in TV & Film.' Julie Green Bataille, a director at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), will represent the Obama administration."

The event is being sponsored by the Norman Lear Center, named after one of Hollywood's most famous, and most left-wing, writers and producers (Lear was particularly successful in the 1970s with TV hits like Sanford and Son, All in the Family, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Maude, and One Day at a Time).

No such thing as a 'brave rebel' in Hollywood anymore

In an analysis of the event, Breitbart News' John Nolte says the combination of a couple of powerful left-wing Hollywood groups and a federal agency like the newly powerful CMS "is not something to be taken lightly":

The intent here is obvious and deadly serious, and the American people should brace themselves for a propaganda push in their film and television entertainment that is meant only to aid and abet Obama's federal government.

It is not unlike the kind of propaganda campaigns that heavily bureaucratized and even tyrannical central governments throughout the modern era have resorted to in order to "convince" the public that something - a government policy, for example - was good for them.

Further, Nolte observes, the invitation should prove once again that, with very rare exceptions ("that only prove the rule"), Tinseltown is not really filled with brave societal rebels, iconoclasts and individual thinkers. Rather, they appear like little more than servants of a left-wing master, Obama, who are only too willing to act as lemmings and do the government's bidding. They also demonstrate with this planned conference and propaganda push that the only way to remain successful in today's American entertainment industry is to never stray from stereotypical liberal/progressive dogma.

"And let's remember this invitation the next time Hollywood and its subservient media try to tell us -- as a friend of mine so aptly put it -- 'that the sh*t we show in the movies has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on anybody's behavior,'" Nolte wrote.

If you don't toe the left-wing line...

As to requiring conformity with left-wing ideology, consider the recent case of one-time star Maria Conchita Alonso. She faced a left-wing backlash for supporting conservative California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Tea Party favorite who is running for governor of his state [http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com].

As reported by CBS SF Bay Area:

The actress was to perform next month at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco's Mission District in a Spanish-language version of "The Vagina Monologues," scheduled for a run from February 14th through 17th. The show is being produced by none other than Eliana Lopez, wife of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.

"We really cannot have her in the show, unfortunately," Lopez told KPIX 5.

Donnelly is opposed to illegal immigration, and because of Alonso's support of him, by default she also supports his position on the issue. Alonso was born in Cuba and raised in Venezuela.

Or how about the recent indictment of Dinesh D'Souza, a former policy advisor to President Ronald Reagan and maker of the highly successful 2012 film 2016: Obama's America? He's in trouble with the Obama Justice Department for allegedly giving too much to an "unnamed Senate campaign."

The Washington Post noted that D'Souza is facing criminal charges, but a similar case committed on behalf of a Democrat such as John Edwards was only a misdemeanor.

Personally, I couldn't care less what a person's political beliefs happen to be. Folks are free to choose their own sides or, perhaps, none at all. What bothers me more than anything is the hypocrisy and the fact that a bunch of rich, out-of-touch liberal elites are advocating bad public policy that won't affect them one iota but will affect tens of millions of Americans who support their lifestyles.

Just doesn't seem right to me.
