(NaturalNews) Health coach, Natural News subscriber and New Jersey resident Julie Felsher joins me on Mental Health Exposed this week, November 14, 2012, to give us an eyewitness description of the devastation brought on by Hurricane Sandy in her own neighborhood.

Around the time Sandy hit, my family and I were running from the tsunami that hit Hawaii. On the last night of our stay near Hilo (on the big island) we evacuated and headed for higher ground, just in case. By the way, more than 100,000 people were evacuated from Hawaiian shores that night.

So, I had lost track of Sandy, until Julie missed an appointment in which we were to begin designing a new NLP-based training for health coaches. At that point I woke up and realized Julie was probably without power.

A week later, she came back online and told me the amazing story, which we recorded for this week's episode.

Julie describes what she and her husband saw when they walked their neighborhood for the first time after the storm. A week without power, with parents and neighbors suffering lost homes and navigating fallen power lines, Julie describes the scene.

In one amazing anecdote, Julie tells about a confrontation between an angry homeowner and a power company (PSEG) employee. The PSEG driver had been camping out at Julie's parents' house for several days, away from his own endangered family, with orders to protect residents from a live power line that had fallen across the front yard. Suddenly, an angry homeowner from a different community showed up to give the PSEG worker a piece of his mind.

Throughout the week, Julie describes feeling empowered as she had several personal breakthroughs about the meaning of personal power, how to handle confrontations, how to prepare yourself for whatever life offers, and more.

During times like these, people lose perspective. Some NJ residents were complaining that the milk in their refrigerator had spoiled, while others' homes were swept away. In Julie's neighborhood, one home is now being demolished after four huge oak trees fell on it, for example.

Join us as we discuss how to be prepared and empowered in difficult times, and what makes the difference between victims who complain and people who choose to take charge of their lives.
