(NaturalNews) Many people despair at the thought of wearing swimwear and shorts, with summer not too far away. Many have larger thighs than they would like, even if they are at their ideal weight. By resorting to taking unhealthy appetite suppressants, artificial diet shakes, carb-blockers and fat absorption inhibitors, overall health is compromised. There is no need to resort to these unhealthy methods, however. Start to tone legs now, be determined to eat a natural, healthy diet and exercise regularly for optimum health.

Why go the Natural Route to Lose Weight on Thighs?

The health risks of being overweight should provide the most incentive to lose weight. The heart has to work much harder to get nutrients and blood pumped through the legs when they are fat. By sitting down blood flow is affected and spider and varicose veins can develop.

Those tempted to lose weight by taking appetite suppressants and unnatural, processed diet shakes, carb-blockers and so on are actually damaging their health. For example, a popular appetite suppressant was sold to desperate, overweight people for years before it was finally withdrawn from the market because it caused damage to heart valves.

Trying to lose weight from thighs or any other part of the body by using chemicals, drugs, processed shakes and pills will not help overall health. It is a far better option to radically change the diet to a healthy, all natural one and to exercise regularly.

How to Tone your Thighs and Lose Inches

Proper nutrition is vital to get rid of the fat and tone the muscles, including hips, butt, and thighs. Eat foods rich in protein, fiber, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, and vitamins/minerals. Carbohydrates such as nuts and brown rice should be eaten earlier on in the day and should be limited in order to lose weight. Have a healthy salad or organically grown vegetables in the evening and don`t eat late at night.

Along with proper nutrition, get enough sleep every night (7-9 hours), drink plenty of pure water every day, and do cardio and weight training exercises.

Exercises to Tone Thighs and Lose Weight

Good exercises to lose weight and tone your thighs would include:

Jumping rope - Jump rope for a few minutes each day and build up stamina gradually.

Jump on a trampoline - Small trampolines can be bought that are small enough for indoor use.

Jumping jacks - Jumping jacks are a great exercise that benefits both the heart and lungs while helping to condition and tone the muscles in the legs and thighs.

Brisk walking is an excellent, low impact, exercise. Include hills or inclines if possible.

Swimming is an excellent, low impact exercise choice, especially for the seriously overweight. Since water provides resistance, simple leg exercises in the pool such as leg lifts, jumping jacks, breast stroke and jogging in the water (without feet touching the bottom) will give legs much needed workout.

Grow your own vegetable garden - gardening provides excellent bending and stretching exercise and has the added benefit of providing you with fresh, organic produce.
