skin bears the brunt. When we are exposed to harsh conditions in the environment it can have a very negative effect on our skin." Dr. Benest went on to say this about the benefits of utilizing shielding lotions: "The reason shielding lotions are so effective is that they replace the protective barrier and allow the skin to heal from within. A shielding
lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin and protects it from outside irritants and chemicals, so it will prevent skin conditions from developing or it will help an existing condition to heal." (1)
Shielding lotions form a protective barrier between the skin and the outside world which is full of irritants and chemicals while keeping in the
natural moisture and oils which help the skin to heal. The biggest difference between shielding lotions and traditional moisturizing lotions is that shielding lotions allow the body to enhance the skins own natural ability to protect itself from the harmful things in the environment today.
