Cosmopolitan's post featured the experience of Jessica, a 37-year-old mother of three who visited Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic in New Mexico.
Jessica, whose name was changed to protect her identity, thinks the idea for a satanic abortion clinic is "genius." While not a Satanist herself, Jessica enlisted the help of the Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic team, who shipped a set of abortion pills to her home, to end her pregnancy. And she decided to incorporate a satanic ceremony endorsed by the abortion clinic to complete her solo abortion experience.
According to Jessica, she and her husband don't want any more children, especially due to her history of super-high-risk pregnancies. She decided to terminate her pregnancy in November, starting with an oral mifepristone pill in the morning followed by four misoprostol pills administered vaginally six hours later.
Jessica discovered Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic while she was searching online for options for abortion medication in New Mexico.
Initially, Jessica thought that the TST website seemed "kind of off-putting." Although no longer religious, Jessica said she was raised as a Catholic. Jessica chose Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic because "the price was right."
Jessica, who considers herself open-minded, conducted more research before contacting the clinic. She asked about how they operate and if a practitioner was available. Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Abortion Clinic conducted Jessica's intake consultation via a Zoom call.
Jessica listened curiously as a nurse described the optional ceremonial aspects of the Satanic abortion ritual. She was first instructed to sit in a quiet space with a mirror. Just before taking the medication, she was told to look at her reflection and focus on her "personhood" and her intent, like her responsibility to herself.
Next, Jessica was told to take several deep, relaxing breaths. Once ready, she was instructed to read the following tenet aloud: "One's body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone."
After taking the medication, she was then told to recite: "Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs."
After her body had expelled the aborted tissue, Jessica was instructed to return to her reflection and focus on her personhood, as well as on the "power in making this decision."
To complete the ritual, Jessica was told to recite a personal affirmation: "By my body, my blood; by my will, it is done."
In another post on Instagram, Cosmopolitan continued to promote satanic abortions, insisting that it is a real trend that has "managed to piss off abortion opponents and reproductive free fighters alike."

Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic is allegedly a New Mexico-based telehealth practice. The legitimate medical entity is managed by an accredited clinical team and offers abortion care to patients within state lines.
The staff prescribes abortion pills at $91 per set, a competitive price, up until the eleventh week of pregnancy. The practice also offers 24/7 phone access to licensed medical personnel to anyone in need.
The practice is run by Satanists who are members of TST. (Related: Abortions in the U.S. HAVE INCREASED since the overturning of Roe v. Wade.)
TST chose New Mexico for several reasons. One, it has about 3,300 members in the state, a robust base of women potentially needing its service.
Two, New Mexico is considered an abortion-rights stronghold because the area lacks laws dictating gestational limits, age restrictions, waiting periods and mandatory "counseling."
Three, unlike in the neighboring states of Oklahoma and Texas, it’s still legal for doctors and nurse practitioners in New Mexico to prescribe abortion pills remotely and have them mailed to patients for "safe" use at home.
Anyone traveling to New Mexico from out of state can use a P.O. box or a friend or family member’s address, even a hotel's.
The Satanic Temple calls itself a "non-theistic religious organization" and is not to be confused with the Church of Satan. TST said it has plans to establish clinics in states that have restricted abortions in the aftermath of a Supreme Court ruling that ended Roe v. Wade.
The Temple named the initiative "The Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic," referencing Rose Fradusco Alito, the conservative Justice who wrote "the majority opinion that overturned the abortion rights case that had been the law of the land since 1973."
"In 1950, Samuel Alito’s mother did not have options, and look what happened," commented Malcolm Jarry, co-founder of TST.
