Gaza doctors send “SOS to whole world” as U.S. suggests evacuation corridor to Egypt

Doctors in Gaza have issued an "SOS message" to the world after several nights of Israeli airstrike. They're suffering from shortages of electricity, fuel, food and water.

Officials at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City have alleged that Israelis are targeting first responders as the death toll among Palestinians has surged, with no less than 140 children among the dead. Approximately 263,000 Palestinians have been displaced.

"We are suffering … and the world is not moving a finger. This is an SOS to the whole world. You must help us," a Gaza health official said on Oct. 11. The official also confirmed that Gaza's lone power plant has been drained of fuel. Israel had already turned off all external electricity and water supply sources. (Related: Israel WEAPONIZES food, water and electricity against 2+ million civilians in Gaza in retribution for Hamas terror attacks.)

Israel has also amended its numbers, declaring the horrible Hamas attack on October 7 and 8 has killed over 1,200. Among the casualties were at least 14 Americans and several other foreign nationals.

Gaza residents are "trapped in a cage" amid Israeli airstrikes

According to an Al Jazeera correspondent, Gaza residents are "trapped in a cage" with nowhere to go out amid the relentless Israeli airstrikes.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated over the years due to the enduring blockade, but the past several days have been the worstAll supplies are depleted because there are no open emergency or humanitarian passages for any type of aid to enter Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Joe Biden administration said it is in discussions with the Egyptian government and regional officials to set up a humanitarian walkway to evacuate people. Regional sources stated the Biden administration began coordinating with other countries to set up a humanitarian passage through Egypt to evacuate Palestinians and citizens holding American passports.

On Oct. 10, Israel bombed the Rafah crossing, the sole border crossing between Gaza and Egypt. There are over two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and they are dealing with a total blackout and lack of communications with an Israeli ground invasion impending.

"The situation is exceptional and horrible on the ground. We are trying to provide them [people who fled from their houses to UNRWA schools] with food packs, pillows, blankets and so on, but we are facing two problems. First, most of the supplies are stored near the border, so it’s unreachable. The second point is that most of the products are about to finish," Ziad Shehadah, general manager of Humanitarian Care Malaysia, told Al Jazeera.

More than two tons of medical supplies from the Egyptian Red Crescent have been delivered to Gaza and efforts are ongoing to organize food and other supplies. The United Nations and other aid groups are pleading for more access to assist Palestinians who find themselves in the middle of fierce fighting.

Emmanuel Massart, a deputy desk coordinator with Doctors Without Borders in Brussels, said the organization has to depend on supplies it already has inside the region because it can't bring any more in.
