Biden has knowledge of Hunter’s business dealings, 2011 emails indicate

America should know by now that President Joe Biden is a notorious liar. He has lied about the election, inflation, the state of U.S. economy and many other social, political and economic issues.

So it's not exactly surprising to find out that he was also lying when he said in 2019 that he never spoke to his son, Hunter Biden, about the latter's business dealings.

Emails from nearly a dozen years ago revealed that the younger Biden had in fact arranged a meeting between his business associates and his father, then a vice president in the Barack Obama administration. According to emails and White House visitor logs reviewed by Fox News, Joe appeared to have met with several business associates of his son in 2011.

At the time, Hunter and his business partner, Rosemont Seneca Partners co-founder Devon Archer, were in the works to secure a lucrative deal worth billions of dollars with Sean Conlon, the future CNBC "The Deed" co-host and founder of Conlon & Co.

In June 2011, Conlon forwarded a business proposal from energy executive David Gamperl promising "substantial profits" to Hunter and Archer if a meeting with Joe could take place.

The proposal involved the since-dissolved Mercantile Investment Group, which requested Joe to "formally meet" Conlon's associates Andre Lasserre and Xi Wang.

"So we have engagement letter if they get other 10 bonds they have a face value of [$]10B," Conlon wrote in the June 2011 email. "While it is far fetched, Devon said he talked to his professor and these get traded. We get 10 percent in fees. We need to get these guys to an event or something where they get to just formally meet your dad. For follow on they can talk to [Joe's] chief of staff. Let me know how soon we can do that. [Very] brief. If Nagi gets that done we get more bonds to move."

Conlon denied any knowledge of the email. "I know absolutely nothing about that," he told Fox News.

Hunter doesn't want to be left out in important meetings

Hunter actually shot down the idea of them meeting with his father, saying he would meet Conlon's associates himself.

"WTF is he talking about. Mtg with JRB chief of staff????" wrote Hunter, replying only to Archer.

"I guess," Archer responded. "I don't think he understands how this works. I will advise him to stand down."

Nagi Ghawi, then-chairman/president of Mercantile Investment Group, told Conlon in another email that Lasserre and Wang were in Washington, D.C., and it was "extremely crucial and extremely urgent" to set up a meeting with them and "the chief of staff or VP."

But Hunter again shot down a meeting proposal after Conlon forwarded that email to him.

"Sorry buddy not a chance in hell either is happening," Hunter wrote. "Anyone who enters WH for a meeting has to be vetted by Secret Service and WH legal team, which typically takes about one week – longer for a foreign national [like Wang]. I can meet with them myself but the other is not happening."

Days later, Hunter met with Gamperl. A week after that meeting, Gamperl met with Joe's Deputy Chief of Staff Alan Hoffman on July 3, 2011 at an unknown location. According to reports, Lasserre was also present at the meeting.

Weeks later, Hunter had secured a meeting between Hoffman, Gamperl, Lasserre and even Wang, according to White House visitor logs.

Paul Kamenar, counsel to the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC), told Fox News that Hunter likely violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) by arranging that meeting.

"If this person or persons met with Biden at the behest of his son, Hunter, and Hunter somehow was being paid directly or indirectly to arrange that meeting, then we would argue that, yes, he would have to register as a foreign agent of that foreign entity," Kamenar said. "It strains credulity to think that his dad is totally clueless of what his son's up to," he added.

Joe Biden pleaded ignorance on multiple occasions regarding his son's business dealings.

"I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings," Biden said to Fox News reporter Peter Doocy on the campaign trail in Iowa in 2019. "You should be looking at Trump. Trump's doing this because he knows I'll beat him like a drum. Everybody's looked at it and said there's nothing there. Ask the right question."

Doocy did ask the right question. Unfortunately, Joe didn't intend to give a truthful answer about the issue.
