Zelensky admits Ukraine already OUT OF AMMO – another begging spree in the works
03/30/2023 // Ramon Tomey // Views

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has admitted that his forces are already out of ammunition.

Zelensky made this admission in an interview published March 25 by the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun. He told Yomuiri's Koya Ozeki: "We do not have ammunition. For us, the situation in the east [of Ukraine] is not good."

The Ukrainian leader appealed for an "acceleration of the supply of ammunition from the U.S. and European Union," alongside "tanks for the de-occupation of Ukraine." The latter is expected to be deployed in battle in April, with Zelensky expressing his intent to deploy them to break through the Russian military defense line.

Zelensky also responded to concerns that other countries providing weapons to Ukraine could lead to an escalation of conflict. He said: "I would like people to stop getting scared by threats of the Russian Federation. The stronger we are, the less possibilities for Russia to go through Europe and thus for a third world war."

The Ukrainian president also rebuked China's 12-point proposal to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, reiterating that Kyiv's "sovereignty and territorial integrity" comes first. The proposal from Beijing includes ceasefire and peace talks, but does not mention the complete withdrawal of Russian troops or the return of territory annexed by Moscow.

"It is not just about us. If we fall down, Russia will go further," Zelensky claimed, adding that "only Russia's defeat in this war" can stop the country.

"There are some countries with imperialistic ambitions which can begin the same aggressive steps. That's very dangerous."

Zelensky concluded by strongly appealing for ammunition, weapons and other materiel. "The world is paying only money and weapons. But it doesn't pay for the lives of our people." (Related: Costly war: American aid to Ukraine about to hit $65 billion.)

Zelensky admission only proves Russia is WINNING

But Raul Ilagi Meijer of The Automatic Earth begged to differ, however. In a March 26 entry, he put in his two cents about the Ukrainian president's admission that Kyiv's forces are running out of ammunition.

According to Meijer, Zelensky's remarks only bolstered reports of how poorly Ukrainian forces are faring in the war. It also proved that Kyiv is indeed experiencing "severe ammunition shortages," as mentioned by an insider.

Moreover, the admission drastically decreases "the chances that Kyiv's upcoming counteroffensive will achieve much of anything" and only increases the chances of Ukrainian forces making "an epic mistake that could ultimately lead to a decisive Russian breakthrough."

"It can therefore be expected that Zelensky and his agents of influence across the West will beg for even more aid, arguing that the failure to pay up would risk making their prior investments in this proxy war all for naught if Kyiv ends up losing to Russia," Meijer continued.

"The problem, however, is that no amount of money can make ammunition appear out of thin air since it requires a lot of time to scale production accordingly to meet these newfound exorbitant needs."

Ultimately, Meijer pointed out: "It's clear that Kyiv can't keep pace with its opponent despite being backed by all of NATO's [the North Atlantic Treaty Organization] military-industrial capacity. Zelensky almost certainly didn’t realize that his candid admission essentially amounted to this, but it's presently unclear whether the MSM will inform their audience about this or not."

He also mentioned the possibility of taxpayers questioning further aid to Ukraine – which has already received more than $100 billion in aid.

"After all, if that astronomical sum wasn't enough to keep their guns firing, then there's no telling how much will be needed for Kyiv to reconquer more of its lost territory like it intends to do."
