Doug Billings lauds Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin for joining Republicans in blocking abortion bill – Brighteon.TV

Book author and Brighteon.TV host Doug Billings praised Democratic Senator Joe Manchin for joining the Republicans in blocking the Women's Health Protection Act.

"There's one man that stands up against the nonsense bill, and I do tip my hat to Joe Manchin from West Virginia. He's not part of the communist socialist party. He is probably one of the only true Democrats left in the elected class in the United States," Billings said in the May 17 episode of "The Right Side" on BrighteonTV.

The legislative proposal that would have made Roe v. Wade abortion rights decision a federal law was shot down in a 51-49 vote.

Manchin lamented that the bill went too far, calling it extremely political and divisive.

"We should not be dividing this country further than it's already divided. It's really the politics of Congress that's dividing the country. It's not the people dividing the country. They're telling us what they want. And it's just disappointing that we're going to be voting on a piece of legislation, which I will not vote for today," the senator told reporters. "I've been pro-life all my life. I believe strongly in my religion. And that's why I'm not changing my mind."

According to Billings, the liberals don't understand that there's another life involved when they talk about women's rights, pregnancy and abortion.

"Besides the woman's life, there is a baby's life. This is a human life. From the moment that egg is fertilized and a human being," he said. "They shouldn't be petrified because the Supreme Court is not making abortion illegal. It's simply saying, hey, the states can decide; each individual state, which is exactly what the Constitution says should be the case." He noted that the Women's Health Protection Act is not a Roe v. Wade codification. "It's an expansion of federal government. It will wipe out 500 state laws on the books and it expands abortion. That's illegal. It's anti-constitution," he explained.

California representative claims abortion can resolve inflation

Meanwhile, a California representative said it is important to legalize abortion throughout the United States to help the country's economy.

Democrat Rep. Katie Porter said the best solution to inflation that she can think of is to make abortion legal and freely available to all women in America.

"The fact that things like inflation can happen, and it can become more expensive to feed your kids and to fuel your car is exactly why people need to be able to be in charge of how many mouths they're going to have to feed," she said.

The Orange County congresswoman blamed high prices and devaluation of the dollar on the impending overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court. She said that abortion and inflation were linked issues. "I don't think they compare; I think they actually reinforce each other," Porter said.

She also tackled the soaring prices of food, gasoline, housing and more. All of this, she said, relates to abortion.

A single mother of three, Porter shared that she put a package of bacon back at the grocery store after noticing that the price had gone up to $9.99 a pound. According to her, that was a part of what triggered her quest to protect abortion from becoming illegal.
