Former Pinterest employee exposes company’s censorship of pro-life messages and bible verses

A former Pinterest employee has come and said that the image-sharing company censored pro-life messages and Christian quotes on its platform. Eric Cochran was fired by the company after he exposed its suppression of Christian content in 2019. Cochran, who is a Christian himself, now works for activist group Project Veritas under its founder James O’Keefe.

In an interview with LifeSiteNews, Cochran elaborated on how Pinterest banned pro-life group Live Action. He said the Live Action website was added to “a pornography blacklist” to prevent people from posting links from the group’s site.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson had previously interviewed Cochran in 2019. Here, the former Pinterest employee said the company banned Live Action over supposed “violations of its community guidelines” after first blacklisting its website. Cochran told Carlson that he fully stood by his actions because of the “wrongdoing and the normalization of censorship between Big Tech companies.”

He echoed the same sentiments a year later when he sat down with LifeSiteNews, saying that Big Tech is a major threat to civil liberties.

Cochran explained that the technology establishment has a particular “disdain” for pro-life, conservative Americans.

“The pro-life position freaks out the establishment the most because it is the essential part of life … what it means to be human, of humans having intrinsic value from their creator.”

Cochran warned that the establishment “wants to destroy life” and “God’s image,” and people are facing forces whose “end goal is destruction, not creation.”

Pro-life employees in Big Tech companies need to be “the light in the darkness”

In his interview, Cochran exhorted young people to infiltrate the industry and use it as a force for good.

“We need Christians and … pro-lifers inside of major institutions,” he said. “We need them in positions of influence [to] make money, build friends, build relationships [and] take over institutions. It’s what our adversaries have done over the last hundreds of years. We need Christians, frankly to be in these positions of power.”

In saying this, Cochran echoed the sentiments he expressed during his 2019 interview with Carlson.

“They [pro-life employees] need to make these tech companies … explicitly say ‘we are on the side of the abortion lobby,’” he said back then.

Big Tech’s censorship powers, coupled with its pro-abortion stance, is “the most dangerous thing for our country,” Cochran pointed out to LifeSiteNews. “Especially when it comes to the pro-life position, this is the battle for hundreds of millions of lives.”

Suppression of conservative viewpoints remains the norm

Despite Cochran’s call for change, Pinterest’s suppression of Christian and conservative viewpoints, which Cochran exposed, is but a norm in Big Tech firms.

In June, social media platform Instagram labeled Christian worship videos posted by worship leader Sam Feucht as harmful content that “goes against community guidelines.” He tweeted a screenshot showing his post taken down for “harmful or false information,” with the caption: “This is what we’ve come to in America!”

Twitter pulled off a similar move in September. Former football quarterback Tim Tebow posted a video on the social media platform discussing Christian love and truth. The social media giant responded by putting a “potentially sensitive content” filter on his video. This wasn’t the second time Twitter flagged a video by Tebow as potentially sensitive. Back in July, the social media site censored an earlier video of his that encouraged viewers to “trust an unknown future to a known God.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called Big Tech censorship “the single greatest threat to free speech and democracy” in America. With Pinterest’s suppression of pro-life groups and Christian content, Big Tech has also become the greatest threat to values and the culture of life.
