CONFIRMED: Ilhan Omar married her brother to get him into the United States, defrauding U.S. government and taxpayers

Reports have circulated for months now that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) actually wed her brother so she could ‘smuggle’ him into the United States from their native Somalia.

And for months the congresswoman and her people have denied those reports.

But come to find out, according to the UK Daily Mail Thursday, it appears as though the initial investigative report by David Steinberg at PJ Media in August 2018 was spot-on.

He wrote:

Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-60B) is the presumed frontrunner for the MN-5 House seat being vacated by Rep. Keith Ellison (D). The seat is safely Democratic; Hollywood progressives, local party officials, and Minnesota media have all but scheduled the August 14 primary as her coronation. Their enthusiasm is rooted in Omar's identity: she is a photogenic, hijab-wearing Muslim who entered the United States as a Somali child refugee.

Likely because of this, however, Omar's media and party supporters have been aggressively uninterested in a disturbing allegation about Omar with legal ramifications: that in 2009, she seems to have married her brother. That allegation has been public for nearly two years without Omar addressing its specific foundations.

Steinberg’s exhaustive research included documents and other pieces of evidence from official sources and social media, all of which has now been confirmed, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the British publication, Omar told friends some years ago that her ‘first husband’ was indeed her brother, Ahmed Elmi, which “scandalized” the Minneapolis Somali community, whistleblower Abdihakim Osman says.

In an interview, Osman — the first person to go on the record to reveal the details — said the reason behind Omar’s sham wedding was to get her brother into the U.S. so he could stay.

What’s more, at the time she was already married to her first husband, Ahmed Hirsi; her brother, then, would become Husband No. 2.

“No one knew there had been a wedding until the media turned up the marriage certificate years later,” Osman, 40, told the Daily Mail.

‘People began noticing’

No doubt these new revelations are going to lead to new calls for an investigation into the veracity of the claims, especially since the freshman Democrat has repeatedly refused to answer questions about Elmi.

Initially, she called the allegations “baseless, absurd rumors,” then — naturally — accused the few journalists who did ask questions of “Islamophobia.”

And she has been able to hide the truth for some time because she left her war-torn homeland at a time when the government had failed and paperwork proving who she and her brother were went missing.

The paper notes that Omar married her first husband, Hirsi, in a Muslim ceremony in 2002; like many in the immigrant community, that ceremony was not registered with the state of Minnesota.

They would subsequently have two children.

In the late 2000s, however, Elmi appeared in Minneapolis according to Osman, who referred to Hirsi as “Southside” — his nickname — in the interview with the Daily Mail.

“People began noticing that Ilhan and Southside were often with a very effeminate young guy,” said Osman through an interpreter. “[Hirsi] and Ilhan both told me it was Ilhan's brother and he had been living in London but he was mixing with what were seen as bad influences that the family did not like. So they sent him to Minneapolis as ‘rehab,’” he continued.

He further explained that Omar kept her marriage to Elmi quiet from the rest of the Somali community.

Last month, the New York Post reported that the FBI was investigating, meeting with a source in Minneapolis who turned over a “trove of documents.”

“Any findings were to be shared with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the US Department of Education, the paper reported. Anyone found guilty of committing marriage fraud faces up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000,” the Daily Mail noted.
