Trump confirms tech giants were colluding against him in the 2016 election… so why isn’t Trump doing something to stop it?

For more than a year, POTUS Donald Trump has teased the notion that the social media behemoths are violating their founding oaths, if not the rule of law and the Constitution, in their attempts to silence conservatives, Right-leaning supporters of his presidency, and independent media voices.

He did so again during a call-in interview with CNBC on Monday to defend against media attacks regarding his recent deal with the government of Mexico to improve trade with the U.S. and to tackle illegal immigration on its own borders.

Appearing on the network’s “Squawk Box” segment Monday morning, the president veered into a discussion about antitrust issues involving the tech giants like Facebook, Amazon, Google, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter, noting they have a distinct bias against him in particular.

“I can tell you they discriminate against me,” POTUS said when asked about recent scrutiny of potential antitrust practices.

“People talk about collusion. The real collusion is between the Democrats and these companies because they were so against me during my election run. Everybody said if you don’t have them, you can’t win. Well I won, and I’ll win again because we’re doing well and we’re not the fools anymore,” he added.

While the president did criticize the European Union’s imposition of large fines on some of the American tech behemoths, he nevertheless hinted that it’s worth looking into potential antitrust abuses after he was asked about them in regards to some of Facebook’s alleged business practices.

“They’re actually attacking our companies,” POTUS said. “But we should be doing what they’re doing. They think there’s a monopoly but I’m not sure that they think that they just figure this is easy money. We’ll sue Apple for $7 billion and we’ll make a settlement or win the case. So I think it is a bad situation but obviously there is something going on in terms of monopoly. ”

As noted, the president has been critical of the tech giants in the past.

In August, shortly before the 2018 midterm elections and amid reports that conservatives and pro-Trump media and personalities were being censored and even banned by the social media platforms, the president criticized the actions as “illegal,” The National Sentinel reported.

What the tech giants are doing is pure discrimination

Ironically, he took to Twitter, ironically (because the platform can’t mute the most powerful voice on the planet) unusually early to call out the social media giants and warn them what’s coming if they don’t reverse their behavior.

“Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media,” he wrote.

“In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out.”

He then asked if the search results were “Illegal”, before noting: “96% of… results on ‘Trump News’ are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous.”

“Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good,” he added. “They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”

But thus far, nothing has been done about the censorship or the bans. And because they’ve gotten away with it, the social media giants have continued to toss conservatives and independent media off their platforms in droves, often because they just have a different political, cultural, or societal point of view. That’s not living up to the platforms’ pledge to be free and open mediums for the exchange of ideas — all ideas, no matter what they are.

The First Amendment was designed to protect all speech and all views, even that which some find ‘offensive.’ The social media behemoths are violating that compact when they ban someone strictly for their political beliefs.

That is discriminatory and it’s hard to imagine the Trump administration’s Justice Department, FCC, SEC, and other agencies can’t find it. He should order them to look.
