New Mexico passes stealth “Green New Deal” law that will implode its economy, just as the state is being overrun with lawless illegals

At what point does it become appropriate to question the sanity of Left-wing Democrats when it comes to their implementation of public policy? Because if New Mexico’s ruling Dems are any indication, that time is long overdue.

Even as state taxpayers become burdened with hordes of illegal aliens who have been allowed to remain in our country because Democrats in Congress refuse to help POTUS Donald Trump reform asylum laws, Leftists in New Mexico have adopted, stealthily, a “green new deal” of their own that will completely destroy the rest of the state’s economy.

As noted by Dan Turner, executive director of Power the Future, a national nonprofit organization that advocates for American energy jobs, the plan first offered by freshman [socialist] Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), is now being silently adopted on a state-by-state basis.

“While the media is watching AOC marveling over garbage disposals and rejecting the racism of cauliflower, no one is reporting about bad laws taking shape in secret,” writes Turner.

And that, of course, is how the radical Left wants it: They can’t allow the disinfectant of sunlight and exposure to wipe away their non-stop efforts at remaking (i.e. ‘destroying’) the American economy that POTUS Trump and tax-cutting Republicans have built.

In New Mexico, newly-elected extremist Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, who, shortly after taking office, pulled all of the state’s National Guard troops off border security duty because her Trump Derangement Syndrome is so pronounced, quietly signed the “Energy Transition Act” in March.

The law mandates that New Mexico, sparsely populated and devoid of a huge base of manufacturing and other corporate presence already, to become 100-percent carbon free, which is the same objective over the long term for the Green New Deal. (Related: New Mexico’s governor is ticked off at a civilian militia for doing HER job: This is just the beginning.)

He further noted:

This destructive law is essentially a hidden carbon tax and will threaten the jobs of thousands of energy workers, raise utility rates, cut state revenue, and make green energy companies rich at the taxpayers’ expense.

As Turner points out, ‘green’ groups have successfully managed to rebrand “carbon tax” as “renewable energy mandates” — having been forced to change the language, as usual, in order to hide the reality of the policy.

No one cared a whit about the citizens of New Mexico

But the results are the same: To force an end to the use of fossil fuels and, in the process, drive up the cost of breathing and living on this earth for any length of time. The new law and the ‘Green New Deal’ policies force the elimination of inexpensive energy sources while mandating use of high-cost renewables. And the customer gets the bill, of course. Meanwhile, it’s the ‘green’ companies that are getting rich.

The scheme is nothing short of a new tax, as noted by scholars and analysts. That includes the University of Chicago, where a recent report found that mandating renewables would boost energy prices by 17 percent right out of the gate.

Also, the Heritage Foundation found that electric bills could actually double for many families.

But again, Democrats have to sneak around in order to get such pathetically expensive and bad legislation passed. As Turner writes, The Associated Press actually investigated — with assistance from Power the Future — internal communications involving the New Mexico government as they worked to draft the Energy Transition Act:

What we found was disturbing. The emails revealed how the state’s energy secretary, Sarah Cottrell Propst, encouraged multiple eco-groups to review the bill’s language as it was being written. In one instance, she allowed the group who employed her just months before, a renewable energy trade group called Interwest, to influence the bill.

Turner notes that Interwest makes money off of renewable energy companies. So, quite obviously, during this process, no one involved in drafting the legislation — not Gov. Grisham, not Propst, not Interwest, and certainly not the extremist green groups — gave a second thought to New Mexico citizens, whose electricity rates are going to go off the charts soon.
