NY Times FAIL: Paper heaps praise on “MERCY” of NYC bomber, while hailing “Army of Darkness” group as “peaceful” Muslim org

It’s becoming more and more clear that The New York Times’ editors and reporters, like the president they adored — Barack Obama — have more love and affection for America’s avowed enemies than for America or Americans themselves.

In a recent “news” article, reporter Jeffrey Gettleman gushed over a “mysterious act of mercy” by the NYC subway bombing suspect, Akayed Ullah, who detonated an explosive device at the Port Authority’s Bus Terminal subway station earlier this month.

Act of mercy, no less.

While reflecting on the Bangladeshi terrorist’s past, Gettleman also described the Islamic fundamentalist group Tabligh Jamaat as a “peaceful Muslim outreach” organization.

Welcome to the Alt-Left media’s Bizzaro World, where bad is good, good is bad, and America’s enemies are the do-gooder heroes.

As reported by Breitbart News, Gettleman — a Pulitzer Prize-winning South Asia bureau chief — wrote on Dec. 18:

As a boy, Mr. Ullah and his mother made the rounds in Hazaribagh, knocking on doors and asking neighbors to go with them to the mosque to pray. They were members of Tabligh Jamaat, a peaceful Muslim outreach group.

The piece goes on to focus a great deal on Ullah’s assistance to Rohingya refugees, a persecuted, mostly-Muslim minority group that has large populations in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia:

After visiting relatives here in the capital city, Dhaka, he traveled across the country, slept in a mosque and under a tree, and passed out a few hundred dollars of medicine in the crowded refugee camps.

“When he left, he seemed happy,” said his mother-in-law, Mahfuza Akhter. “But when he returned, he was so upset. He said those people were living in hell, each and every minute.”

Like the Palestinians, the persecution of the Rohingya has been leveraged by Middle Eastern terrorist groups, including al Qaeda and the Islamic State, for their own causes and advancement. But that said, members of the Tabligh Jamaat have been linked to a large number of terrorist incidents throughout the West in the past decade alone, including the mass shootings in San Bernardino and bombings in London. “This isn’t one ideology or one nation that is waging war on us. There are a plethora of countries creating terrorists with their cultural, religious and education systems,” noted Breitbart News correspondent, Raheem Kassam, in comments to Fox Business.

“This latest attempted attacker I bet will be from the Deobandi school of political Islam, which is very popular in Bangladesh, India and England and growing in the U.S.”

He noted in his book No Go Zones — places in the West where Islamic Sharia Law prevails and local police stay out — that Tablighi activism is one of the least discussed indicators of radicalization.

“They’re called the Army of Darkness outside of the United States because of their stealthy abilities,” Kassam wrote. “They’re also able, like water, to take the shape of any group they come into contact with. They’re pro-Jihad. They’re encouraging brethren to go back to the way of prophet Muhammed. They’re essentially accepted by virtually every branch of Islam all over the world. Especially Sunni.”

And a New York Times reporter and bureau chief is referring to one of its members in a complimentary way that completely understates his blatant act of violence against Americans.

And in the very same city where The New York Times is published.

You can’t get any more tone deaf than that  or more blatantly anti-American.

Kassam said he reached out to Gettleman to ask him about his use of the phrase “peaceful Muslim outreach group” to describe the Tablighi. As you might have expected, Kassam didn’t get a response.

And he won’t, because apologists for radical Islam in the Alt-Left American press have never felt obligated to justify their #AmericaHate.
