The Oil Alarm: New film by Liam Scheff exposes the coming global collapse precipitated by oil dependence - and what you can do to prepare

Fossil fuels

(NaturalNews) The world has been dependent upon fossil fuel – oil – for more than a century, and while many economists credit it with helping usher in the Industrial Revolution that turned America into the world's No. 1 economy while lifting other nations out of poverty, others believe we have become far too dependent on it.

So much so that it would be impossible to survive in a post-oil era, which at least one person believes is upon us.

That person is filmmaker Liam Scheff, whose new documentary lays out all the details of a coming global collapse stemming from our over-reliance on oil and, more importantly, what we can all do to get ready for it.

"We live at the peak of the petroleum age, digging up every square mile of land for a little more oil. We're ruining our water, soil, air and land – but we won't stop," says Scheff's website, introducing his film.

"We've got a looming nuclear disaster staring at us across the Pacific, but we don't want to talk about it. And just on the other side of the oil peak, we're fearing a steep decline in the energy that's built our society," the site says.

So, the key, then, will be to build a society that does not rely on fossil fuels in order to not just survive, but thrive.

The site further notes the evolution of our own sustainment:

"Once upon a time, almost everyone produced some portion of what they – and their tribe, family, town or village – ate; and what they needed to stay alive.

"In 1790, with a population of 4 million people, 90% of Americans worked on farms. By 1900, it was 38%. Today, less than 2 percent of the US population farms in a nation of 320 million people.

"Our food comes from distant fields, plowed by immense machines (that run on oil), carried to us on the back of trucks (that run on oil), sprayed and chemically-coated with pesticides (made of oil). Can you see the weaknesses in this system?"

The good news is, Scheff really does have a plan. Check it out here.
