(NaturalNews) A horrible thing happened the other day that news agencies stopped reporting on almost immediately a day after it happened is a lesson in the hypocrisy of the mainstream media and the Leftists who still believe in it. However, it is also a lesson in life that ought to apply universally, but for some reason does not.

By now, most Americans know that a 25-year-old woman, Adacia Chambers, plowed into the Oklahoma State University Homecoming parade in Stillwater recently, killing four people and sending 44 to the hospital, many of them in critical condition. At the time she was arrested, she was said to be highly intoxicated.

The horrific crash killed three people instantly, but a fourth – two-year-old toddler Nash Lucas – died a few days later.

The UK's Telegraph reported:

According to witnesses her Hyundai Elantra was driving up to 50mph before running into a parked police motorcycle and then hitting spectators, throwing some "30 feet into the air like rag dolls."

Captain Kyle Gibbs told reporters that the critically injured spectators had been flown from the scene by air ambulance.

They were taken to Tulsa as well as to Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

No gun used

Among those who were airlifted was seven-year-old Madison Atwell, who was planning to attend her first Oklahoma State Cowboys football game when the accident occurred, the paper added. According to Facebook posts by her mother, Tasha Thomason Atwell, a U.S. Army soldier, the child suffered a bruised lung and five broken ribs as well as a head wound that required staples to close.

Chambers' father, Floyd, told local news reporters that he was completely baffled by what had happened.

"I can't figure this out. This is not the person that's my daughter," he told The Oklahoman.

"I can't imagine alcohol being involved. She is not an alcoholic that I'm aware of. This is just not who she is. They're going to paint her into a horrible person but this is not (her)."

He added: "And my heart goes out to those people and all of them who are injured. It's just a bad thing. I know this isn't something that she would have done deliberately. I know that she's not that person."

And the lesson is...

As it turns out, her father might be right. Subsequent reporting by USA Today and others quoting her attorney, Tony Coleman, suggest she was severely depressed and might have been under the influence of some strong drugs instead.

"I absolutely can rule out alcohol as an intoxicant," he told the paper, adding that Chambers' behavior when he spoke to her "was not consistent with someone coming out of an alcoholic stupor."

Family and friends who saw her late the previous evening said she had not had any alcohol. Her boyfriend, whom she lives with, said she was sober when she left for work the following morning just a few hours before the crash.

The facts will eventually present themselves, but regardless of how this happened, one thing is already certain: the liberal echo chamber in the media, at the White House and in academic circles would be braying like donkeys about "more gun control laws" if Chambers had walked into the parade with a firearm and began shooting people.

As it is, her "weapon of mass murder" was a vehicle. Of course, we're not hearing the Left shout for "more automobile control." They have indicated that Chambers is to blame and is responsible for her actions (at this point anyway), which may prove to be entirely correct. It remains to be seen if she was under the influence of something else such as a drug or depression.

It's a good bet that the entirely predictable progressive Left will not understand or learn this lesson in life: just about anything can be utilized to kill and injure a lot of people at once, and bad things often happen to good people.
