Stephen Hawking wants to save mankind - by telling people to ignore all the problems on Earth

(NaturalNews) He might be regarded by some as one of the leading physicists of the 21st century, but Stephen Hawking's grand delusions about the future of humanity are clearly more rooted in his own pride and arrogance than in anything resembling prudence or reality.

The self-proclaimed God-hater, who suffers from a debilitating condition known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, apparently now believes that the earth is now too foregone to save and that the only chance for human subsistence is to fly into space and hope for the best.

For all of his esteemed accomplishments, Hawking appears to have leapt off the deep end with absurd fantasies about simply abandoning Earth in search of a whole new planet for humans to live on -- and presumably destroy, just like is happening on Earth.

Rather than even attempt to come up with viable solutions to correct the wrongs on our existing planet, including improved conservation measures and sustainable agriculture, for instance, Hawking believes we should just forget about all this and look up to the cosmos as our infinite savior.

"[T]here is an element of arrogance in a scientist who believes he can know The Theory of Everything," wrote Ignacio Zuleta for World Crunch, referring to Hawking's book by the same name. "He shows less interest in a most fundamental thing beside him, our extraordinary planet, than in his intergalactic fantasies."

The planet we already live on was optimally designed for our survival - why abandon it?

What Hawking suggests, in essence, is that humanity simply abandon all efforts to do more of the right things on Earth, and instead daydream about what could be, in some parallel universe, out there in the universe. So much for inspiring the next generation to be good stewards of the planet on which we currently live.

Besides the fact that trying to establish civilization on some other planet would only benefit a select few who could actually afford it, or who are chosen by the elite to inhabit such a new world, focusing on a make-believe future at the expense of the here-and-now is just plain ridiculous.

"The Englishman might help Internet-hooked teenagers understand where they stand, teach them to value life, the earth and the elements and tell them to put their house in order before getting onto a rocket headed for space," added Zuleta.

"Instead, [Hawking] spreads a pernicious expectation that is ultimately only for the few, not to mention practically impossible for the species as we know it today."

Hawking is a deluded narcissist who believes himself to have achieved god-like status

It takes a "genius," presumably, to get so lost in his own self-aggrandizements as to completely abandon all hope of trying to rescue this planet, which was made for our own good, in search of another one that probably doesn't even exist -- either that or an overzealous atheist who believes himself to be some kind of god with superior intellectual capacity.

Zuleta puts it well when he describes Hawking's crazy babblings about a future away from this earth as futile, especially when the collective of human experience can't even make things work on a planet that is already fully and optimally capable of sustaining human life and ecological harmony.

"Between the pride and atheism of Hawking , [sic] who is more enamored with his ideas than with the multifaceted world, and the sobering humor and humility of Albert Einstein , [sic] who said that 'the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious,' the 'source of all art and science,' my temperament inclines toward the latter," Zuleta reminds us.
