(NaturalNews) The vaccine debate has never really been a fair one because of a general misunderstanding of immunity, especially within the medical and scientific communities. In her book Vaccine Illusion, Dr. Tetyana Obukhanych addresses this issue, highlighting how vaccines actually destroy natural immunity and make people more susceptible to disease.

Released as a downloadable e-book, Vaccine Illusion provides a thorough analysis of vaccine dogma and how mainstream beliefs about antibodies and immunity came to be. An immunologist herself, Dr. Obukhanych takes her readers on a journey that covers the history of vaccination, the concept of "herd immunity," immunologic memory and its role in conferring natural immunity apart from vaccines, and more.

"[I]n the debate over vaccine safety, we have lost sight of a bigger problem: how vaccination campaigns wipe out our herd immunity and endanger the very young," explains the book's description. "Written by an immunologist, Vaccine Illusion explains why vaccines cannot give us lasting immunity to infectious diseases and how they jeopardize our natural immunity and overall health."

Journey from vaccine advocate to vaccine whistleblower

As an immunologist, Dr. Obukhanych was indoctrinated into the vaccine gospel, believing for years that without them people would be dying left and right from preventable diseases. But as she began to look deeper into the matter, the truth began to emerge -- mainly that most of what we have all been told about the nature of vaccines is false.

From the time that the first vaccine for smallpox was introduced, the medical community's understanding of immunity, the immune system and immunization in general has been fundamentally flawed. Natural immunity that comes from exposure to pathogens and viruses during early childhood lasts a lifetime, she explains, while the kind artificially induced by vaccines is only temporary.

"It has been observed for ages that naturally acquired immunity from most viral diseases lasts a lifetime," she wrote. "The invention of vaccination in the 18th century has surely precluded us from seeking to understand naturally acquired immunity and instead shifted the focus of immunologic investigation to understanding vaccine-based protection, which is then projected back on naturally acquired immunity."

Vaccines: immune response or allergic reaction?

With a newfound understanding of naturally acquired immunity, Dr. Obukhanych continued her research into subsequent vaccines including diphtheria and tetanus, the latter of which does not even work. As it turns out, vaccines do not actually trigger an immune response so much as they do an allergic response, which obviously does not provide long-term protection against disease.

"Every new generation of immunologists is initiated into this illusion and inadvertently takes immunologic research in the direction that is further and further away from understanding the true basis of immunity," added Dr. Obukhanych about the flaws of mainstream vaccinology.

Other topics addressed in Dr. Obukhanych's book include real immunity as it is passed from mother to child through pregnancy and breastfeeding, the flu shot scam, why vaccines are ineffective at preventing bacterial disease, the myth of germs being dangerous and the failure of modern science to conduct honest immune research.

"My overall conclusion based on the juxtaposition of findings from a broad interdisciplinary perspective is that strengthening natural immune defenses is an absolute necessity for averting health complications and deaths from viral infections or bacterial carriage," said Dr. Obukhanych. "The vaccination approach, on the other hand, is insufficient to guarantee disease prevention on an individual basis."
