(NaturalNews) Health freedom and healing liberty advocate Dr. Robert Scott Bell, the popular regular host featured on the Natural News Radio Network, says the flawed modern-day medical system was a century in the making, and that a continued lack of recognition of homeopathic medicine is shortchanging Americans.

In an interview on Fox News, Bell said once upon a time he was a "victim" of what he called the "medical monopoly" -- part of a family filled with conventional medical practitioners.

"My family members were doctors, my dad was a pharmaceutical rep -- I was raised on modern medicine," he said.

This is all the more intriguing given his holistic, natural approach to medicine today.

But he says he didn't have any choice.

"I was so ill" all the time, he said. "Allergies, I had gastrointestinal problems. I had skin disorders and rashes that wouldn't go away. I had musculo-skeletal inflammation as a kid. Tendonitis. Can you imagine?"

He said he had endured surgeries, "drugs and more drugs," but nothing seemed to help.

So Bell began to dig into the evolution of modern medicine, to see if he could find a way around it, to better and more natural treatments -- treatments that in and of themselves did not create new medical problems.

That history, in fact, is outlined in one of the chapters of his newest book, Unlock the Power to Heal.

"Many people are asking, 'How did we get here?'" Bell said, regarding the current disruptive, expensive and overly corporatized world of modern medicine. "You know, we tend not to want to go political on these issues because I think it's a Left-Right issue. They're all kind of wrong on this."

The Flexner Report

He went on to say that there were two brothers who wound up having more impact on the 20th century than even Orville and Wilber Wright, the two brothers who invented and tested the world's first airplane.

Who were they? Abraham and Simon Flexner, Bell said, authors of The Flexner Report of 1910, a book-length study that focused on medical education in the U.S. and Canada.

The Flexner brothers concluded that higher admission and graduation standards were necessary to reform American medicine. They also said that, by all means, the U.S. medical system should adhere strictly to mainstream science and its teachings. They further observed that the country had too many medical schools and that too many doctors were being trained.

"This was a preordained report commissioned by the Carnegie and Rockefeller foundations to establish a monopoly on medicine," Bell explained, "an oil-based, petrochemical monopoly by basically taking over the medical institutions and education centers."

So, he said, there were no more herbs. No more homeopaths. No more natural medicine.

"This happened slowly, subtly, but very powerfully, over 100 years," he said.

The system turned into one where the government would regulate only a single form of medicine into existence, Bell said. "I often call it, in violation of the First Amendment, the state-sanctioned religion of modern medicine, or the church of biological mysticism."

Natural doctors, patients should be able to establish relationships in a free market

The Natural News host went on to note that food is not as profitable as medicine, even though proper diet free of harmful GMO foods and the horrific combination of substances and chemicals in processed foods is one of the keys to healthier living.

"I'll admit my bias as a homeopath," Bell said, but then again, "my medical doctor uncle [even] told me, 'Don't become a medical doctor, because it's a disaster.' This was back in the late '70s, early '80s. And what it's become is many medical doctors are leaving the profession because they can't do what they went in for.

"Even the good ones are saying, 'I have to leave now,'" he continued.

Bell said his goal is to take medicine back to a time when natural doctors and patients could establish a relationship.

"It could be a homeopath, it could be an herbalist, it could be a chiropractor, a naturopath, and there's a free market to be able to access real healing," Bell said.
