Three beneficial colloids and the conditions they can help treat

(NaturalNews) Many cultures throughout history understood that certain colloids - solutions in which one substance is evenly dispersed throughout another substance at the microscopic level - contained important medicinal properties. After all, if a certain substance possessed proven healing properties in its natural state, then its colloid form - which increases its surface area and absorption levels - would naturally intensify those properties.

Below is a list of three popular colloids available today and the conditions they're renowned for treating. Though most people are probably familiar with colloidal silver, the other two might be new to you.

Colloidal silver - Infections of all kinds

Silver's antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal properties have been cherished for centuries. In fact, many ancient people, such as the Persians and Babylonians, preserved their water by placing it in silver vessels. It wasn't until the early 20th century, however, that silver in its colloidal form achieved prominence as a medical aid.

If you're suffering from a cold or stomach flu, for instance, then taking a few teaspoons of colloidal silver per day will help fight the infections. If you have an infection in your ear, you can add silver droplets directly into it. In fact, there doesn't seem to be a single infection that colloidal silver cannot treat; it's even been known to kill superbugs.

Colloidal gold - Cognitive dysfunction

Despite being relatively unknown compared to colloidal silver, colloidal gold - fine gold particles suspended in water - is just as valuable from a medicinal standpoint. Its purpose, however, is completely different. Unlike colloidal silver, which treats exclusively physical conditions, colloidal gold helps eliminate brain fog and other cognitive issues.

Studies have shown, for instance, that long-term consumption of colloidal gold can improve IQ. According to a study published in the Journal of Frontier Sciences, subjects who ingested 30 mg/day of colloidal gold over a one-month period displayed a 20 percent increase in IQ scores. This research reinforces the claims of individual users who often report that long-term colloidal gold consumption seems to have a "defragmenting" effect on the mind, leading to improved memory and concentration. One study published in the Pharmacognosy Research journal even discovered that gold nanoparticles are effective antidepressants that can lift people from low moods.

Colloidal oatmeal - Skin conditions

Oatmeal has been used since time immemorial as a skin cleanser and soothing agent, and science now understands why: oats are rich in beta-glucans, which are polysaccharides that can stimulate collagen deposition and reduce skin inflammation. Unsurprisingly then, oatmeal colloids - which have been commercially available since 1945 - maintain these benefits.

Unlike colloidal silver and gold, which are ingested orally, colloidal oatmeal is usually added to baths so that it can penetrate our pores and draw toxins from the skin. Skin conditions it is known to treat include eczema, psoriasis, sunburn, acne, diaper rashes, poison ivy rashes, chicken pox and many more. Oatmeal colloids (especially those sourced from organic, gluten-free oats) also possess considerable nourishing and rejuvenating properties, meaning that even people without skin conditions can benefit from them.
