Help restore food freedom in Kentucky by supporting S.B. 47

(NaturalNews) Corporate agribusiness and the pharmaceutical industry are together working towards achieving a total monopoly on human health that includes restricting Americans' free access to the foods of their choice. And in an effort to restore some of this freedom that has already been lost, concerned Kentuckians are currently working to pass a new bill, S.B. 47, that will establish regulatory guidelines that prohibit government intrusion into private food contracts made between farmers and their customers.

The issue ultimately stems from raw milk sales, which are currently illegal in Kentucky. Though there are no state guidelines prohibiting "cow share" programs where customers purchase shares in a cow or goat in order to legally gain access to the animal's milk, state and federal officials have increasingly been cracking down on such arrangements both in Kentucky and across the nation.

So in order to preserve their freedom to access fresh, clean food from local farms, as well as establish the lawful existence of cow share programs, health freedom advocates crafted S.B. 47, which is the only such bill in recent history in Kentucky to have actually made it out of committee. According to Food Freedom, a committee recently voted 9 - 2 in favor of S.B. 47, and it has now moved on to the state senate for a vote.

"Senate Bill 47 (http://kysb47.info/) would protect Kentuckians' right to privately contract and invest in all types of livestock and poultry to acquire the food of their choice from the farmer of their choice, raised in the manner of their choice," writes Food Freedom. "It would clearly limit regulatory and agency oversight of such arrangements, carving out a clear, free space for people to access all sorts of nutrient dense foods from local farmers raised according to their likings."

Sadly, the U.S. Constitution already guarantees these freedoms and protections in its Fourth Amendment, which states that no government can "deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." Arbitrarily restricting access to certain foods and selectively targeting individuals to serve special interests is a clear violation of the Constitution -- and it is exactly what Kentucky and many other states are now doing to their citizens on a regular basis.
