Our broken mental health system continues to create casualties that could have been avoided

Mental health care

(NaturalNews) America's mental health care system is an enormous failure, and one needs look no further than the weekly news headlines for evidence of that fact.

On May 11, 2016, Arthur DaRosa went on a stabbing spree in Taunton, Massachusetts, leaving two people dead, before himself being shot and killed by an off-duty police officer.

DaRosa had been released just hours earlier by Morton Hospital in Taunton, despite have been hospitalized by concerned family members who had been told by DaRosa that he was suicidal and that "the devil was playing tricks on him."

From the Boston Herald:

"DaRosa's father and sister told the Herald he was mentally disturbed, suicidal and claimed the devil had been trying to make him do things.

"Kerri Devries, 31, DaRosa's older sister, said her brother was manic and had been battling depression for years. She said he was hospitalized for depression the day before the rampage when an ambulance came to their Myrtle Street home and took the father of two to Morton Hospital."

Devries said that her brother "told them how depressed he was and how he didn't want to live anymore and they still let him leave."

After his release, DaRosa entered a home at random and stabbed two women, one of whom died. He then drove to a shopping mall, assaulted several people, and stabbed a waitress and a man who attempted to intervene to save her life. The man later died, and DaRosa himself was then shot and killed by an off-duty cop.

Inadequate care, dangerous drugs

An investigation is underway to determine why Morton Hospital staff released DaRosa, but the truth is that potentially dangerous mental patients are being released daily throughout the country, after receiving inadequate diagnoses and treatment.

Most patients suffering from depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and other serious mental conditions are given medications that in many cases have proven to exacerbate the problem.

Antidepressant drugs have been linked to an increased risk of violent behavior, with nearly half of "high-profile" violent incidents being carried out by individuals who were on antidepressant or anti-psychotic drugs at the time, or shortly before the acts took place.

From the Alliance for Natural Health:

"ANH-USA has researched dozens of the most high-profile cases of violent crimes over the last few decades. We found that in just under half of the cases (eleven out of twenty-three), the perpetrator was documented to be taking, or had recently stopped taking, some form of antidepressant or antipsychotic medication.

"In another seven cases, the killer had been on these medications earlier. We suspect that number is even higher, but the information is either not publicly available or not known."

The entire American mental health care system essentially revolves around the pharmaceutical industry's agenda, which is to sell dangerous and largely ineffective drugs to as many people as possible.

Big Pharma makes enormous profits from these one-size-fits-all chemical "remedies" that cause more harm than good:

"Antidepressant use has increased an astounding 400% in recent years. This translates into billions of dollars in profits worldwide for the pharmaceutical industry. And drug company money represent[s] a substantial percentage of the FDA's operating budget."

Although the drug companies have kept their own research secret, more and more independent studies have confirmed the link between violent crime and the use of antidepressants.

What Big Pharma doesn't want you to know

And what Big Pharma doesn't want anyone to know is the fact that there are natural remedies which are far more effective at treating depression and other forms of mental illness.

In most cases, diet is the key to treating depression.

As Mike Adams, founder/editor of Natural News, and author of the new book Food Forensics, wrote:

"Nearly everyone who has been diagnosed with a mental disorder in our modern world is actually suffering from nothing more than nutritional imbalances. Too much processed, poisonous junk food and not enough healthy superfood and nutrition."

Big Pharma is a criminal enterprise, and Americans are being held hostage by it. How many more innocent people must die before we reform our broken mental health system?
