Belligerent news reporter advocates that terrorists target 'ignorant, flag waving' Americans

News reporter

(NaturalNews) Why would a news reporter advocate that terrorists target "ignorant, flag-waving" Americans? Why would he make such a divisive, threatening statement to his fellow countrymen and women?

Bill Grimes, a news reporter for the Effingham Daily News (EDN), did just that, writing out a hard-to-swallow line of vitriol that drew immediate backlash from the people living in and around the Effingham community.

Grimes revealed the true content of his character as he posted his hatred to Facebook. The November 17 post was written while Grimes was on the job, and now the reporter's integrity is being called into question.

Here's what Grimes wrote for the public to see: "I am taking a break from Facebook, at least now that I am at work. The appalling level of ignorance and xenophobia is doing nothing but throwing me into a barely controllable rage. Fact is, it's almost gotten to the point where I almost wish some of these refugees were terrorists AND TARGETED IGNORANT FLAG-WAVING JACKASSES. They shouldn't be hard to find." [Emphasis added]

The post has since been taken down. It was written at a time when many Americans were discussing the national security risks of bringing thousands of Syrian refugees into the country. That conversation will rightfully continue. Here's the screenshot of Grimes original post.

Belligerent reporter loses the respect of the community

Grimes quickly lost the respect of his community as droves of concerned citizens voiced their frustration, calling in to the Effingham Daily News. The EDN has reportedly suspended Grimes, but he is currently scheduled to return to work. The EDN quickly published an apology for Grime's misconduct, explaining that his threat "does not represent the view of the paper."

The apology fell flat on its face as the EDN tried to shift the blame to the "conundrum of social media." The EDN apology failed to address the heart of the matter: Grime's advocating that terrorists target "ignorant flag-waving" Americans.

Citizens in the Effingham community didn't buy the cheap apology. Grime's statement struck many people to their core, especially veterans who have fought to defend the country.

Just days later, on November 23, a peaceful group of Americans assembled outside the Effingham Daily News to wave the American flag.

"I wave the flag," said veteran Joe Vonderheide, the organizer of the rally. "This hits close to home for me. I know how it is to face your enemy — face-to-face — and his statement really hit me pretty hard."

The sight was refreshing. It was awesome to see honest people with a backbone, standing up for the great ideals that the American flag represents. As people drove by and honked in support of their patriotic stand, it felt as if the greatness of America was triumphing, decimating the insidious remarks of a hateful, divisive reporter.

What kind of standards does the Effingham Daily News operate by?

The question remaining is this:
what kind of standards does the Effingham Daily News go by? Will the news organization pardon this kind of bitter, anti-American vitriol coming from their writers? Will they slap Grimes on the wrist and just suspend him for a week or two after he vehemently advocated that terrorists target American people?

The EDN will most definitely lose subscribers, and advertisers will most assuredly pull their ads, because Americans won't put up with this kind of garbage and lack of ethics from their local media.
