(NaturalNews) April 10th marks the start of World Homeopathy Awareness Week (WHAW) in 2009 -- April 10-16. This day marks the 254th anniversary of the birth of the founder of homeopathy, Samuel Frederick Hahnemann, to whom this year's event is dedicated. Sponsored by World Homeopathy Awareness Organization (WHAO), World Homeopathy Awareness Week will be celebrated in over 45 countries worldwide. This non-profit organization is incorporated in Holland, where it received official non-profit recognition last February.
Observance of World Homeopathy Awareness Week first took place in 2005. Information about the United States branch can be found at

The theme for this year's event is "Homeopathy and Allergies". Homeopathy has a long history in effective treatment of allergies and allergic conditions. Thirty five million American suffer from allergies each year according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) and the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI).
