  • A Livingston County woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to identity theft in connection with the scamming of an 86-year-old woman.
  • Lisa Myric Lucas, 31, of Caledonia also pleaded guilty to mail fraud.
  • She is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 7.
  • Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathleen Mehltretter announced the plea on Monday.
  • The case was heard before U.S. District Judge Michael Telesca.
  • The mail fraud charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine; the identity theft charge has a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
  • Federal prosecutors said Lucas' scam occurred from August to December last year while she was working at K&H Precision in Honeoye Falls.
  • Lucas fraudulently ordered a company credit card for an 86-year-old woman who didn't work for K&H Precision.
  • Lucas then had the woman use the credit card to withdraw large amounts of money.
  • In a related scheme, Lucas ordered credit cards using her supervisor's name and Social Security number while the supervisor was on vacation.
  • The credit cards were sent by mail to K&H Precision.
  • Lucas then took the credit cards, set up an Internet account using the 86-year-old woman's name, and used the fraudulently obtained cards to make Internet purchases.
  • The U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case.
