Summary
Popular domain registrar Domainsite.com has announced open registration for the .CN registry. In the past, many China-based sites have been accessed by their direct IP addresses owing to language issues. Now words and phrases in the various Chinese dialects will be able to point to web sites. Domainsite now has more than 40,000 users in China and expects many more as a result of its new domain offering.

Domain registrar Domainsite.com (domainsite.com) announced on Monday that it will begin offering internationalized domain name registration for the .CN registry.
During the launch, the company is offering clients unlimited .CN domain names for $34 per year each.
"We are excited to be able to allow customers to register .CN names in the Chinese language", says Domainsite.com CEO Bill Mushkin.
"Historically, many Chinese sites have been accessed directly by their IP addresses.
This should now change to a system based on words, phrases, and names in native languages."
"Our free domain name promotion in September expanded our customer base well beyond the 40,000 user level," he says.
"Although we do not believe that this partnership will yield excessively large numbers of users, we do believe that people are starting to see our commitment to bring high end products first to market.
In addition to offering domain registration, Domainsite.com also provides Web hosting, email hosting, and a range of DNS tools.
