NaturalNews.com is launching a contest to rename the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with a name that more accurately reflects the demonstrated aims of the agency. The FDA's reputation is in shambles this year, following the public revelation that the agency was aware of the dangers of heart-damaging medications years ago, yet failed to warn the public or pull the drugs from the market. The agency even went so far as to censor its own drug safety scientists who were attempting to warn the public about the dangers of antidepressant drugs and anti-inflammatory drugs. Accordingly, the agency has earned itself a new name.
Name ideas may be submitted via email to feedback48@NaturalNews.com using the email subject, "FDA NAME CONTEST." Suggestions are due by midnight, November 16. The winning idea, chosen by NaturalNews editors, will receive a $100 cash reward and public credit for creating the name.
Strategies for renaming the FDA include new acronyms (the Foolish Drug Advocates, for example) or phonetic plays (the Crude and Thug Administration). A list of the most creative names will be published on November 17 at http://www.NaturalNews.com
The winning name will be chosen based on how well it captures and communicates the public trust failures of the agency with a healthy sense of humor while still remaining recognizable as a play on the agency's current name. Contest participants should avoid name ideas that have nothing in common with the agency's current name. For example, a name idea like, "The American Drug Cartel" wouldn't work because it does not in any way resemble the recognizable name of the agency.
In addition to renaming the agency itself, FDA department name ideas are also welcome, such as the "FDA Department of Propaganda" or the "Office of Official Distortion." Suggestions for new FDA slogans and mission statements are also welcome: "The FDA, protecting Big Pharma profits at your expense."
Everyone is welcome to participate, even FDA employees.
