Manufactured epidemics: Big Pharma's denial of truth behind Polio puts human species at risk
by David Gutierrez, staff writer
(NaturalNews) The disease popularly known as polio is not just caused by the virus of the same name but by an interaction of that virus with neurological poisons in the form of pesticides, warns Dr. Kenneth Paul Stoller, director of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Clinic, in a study published in the peer-reviewed, open-access International Journal of Current Advanced Research on August 28.
Stoller warns that a fixation on the polio virus by public health officials and pharmaceutical companies ignores the tens of thousands of people suffering from nearly identical diseases triggered by other viruses in combination with the same toxins.
"Our myopic blindness to the actual etiology and pathology of the many neurological disorders that plague us ... is simply beyond reason," he writes, and "could jeopardize the survival of the human race."
An atypical epidemic diseasePolio is caused by a virus in the family known as enteroviruses (EVs). In about 1 to 2 percent of infections, the virus infiltrates the nervous system, causing inflammation of the myelin sheath protecting motor neurons. This can cause temporary or even permanent paralysis of the limbs and respiratory muscles, a condition now being called acute flaccid paralysis (AFP).
In contrast with the long histories of other epidemic diseases, the first proven U.S. polio outbreak took place in Boston in 1893, followed by the first major epidemic in Vermont in the following year. Over the next 15 years, 30 more outbreaks followed. A similar pattern was seen throughout the world.
"[S]omething seems to have happened around 1890 to launch The Age of Polio in the United States," wrote Dan Olmstead and Mark Blaxill on AgeofAutism.com. "And something else must have changed around the end of World War II to create the large modern epidemics seared into the minds of older Americans."
Pesticides + virus = epidemics?Olmstead and Blaxill suggest that the overlooked factor is the adoption of a new insecticide, lead arsenate. The Boston outbreak occurred in the very year and location that the insecticide was introduced, and the Vermont outbreak coincided with the time and region where the formula was first shared with farmers. The authors note that nearly all documented outbreaks in this time period occurred in areas with intensive commercial fruit and vegetable agriculture. Indeed, contemporary scientists even suggested lead arsenate as the cause of the paralytic outbreaks.
Olmstead and Blaxill note that the era of massive post-war polio outbreaks coincided with the widespread adoption of organophosphate pesticides such as DDT. Although chemically very different, organophosphates and lead arsenate share an important trait: they are neurological poisons that can cause paralysis, spasms and death.
"Consider the possibility that the infamous 'polio' epidemic was a man-made environmental catastrophe where a relatively benign family of viruses opportunistically took advantage of those with a compromised immune system because their bodies were subclinically poisoned with pesticides," Stoller wrote.
According to research published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences in 1969, in fact, DDT actually increases the replication activity of poliovirus in human cells by as much as 90 percent.
This chemical component could explain the fact that, even as poliovirus cases reportedly dwindle globally, cases of AFP are actually increasing. Currently, "non-polio AFP" (NPAFP) cases number about 53,000 per year. Stoller noted that organophosphates are still widely used in many parts of the world, notably in many of the regions still struggling with polio outbreaks. DDT metabolites have been found in the bodies of every population tested.
By ignoring the rise of NPAFP, Stoller says, vaccine advocates show that they are striving not to eradicate the actual disease of polio (that is, AFP), but rather a single virus. This betrays their ultimate lack of interest in improving human health, he charges.
"If there is no effort to identify the EVs causing NPAFP, or learn why humans are vulnerable to them," he wrote, "the eradication of the poliovirus is all subterfuge."
