The perfect reflection of the downfall of America: Old Wal-Mart being refurbished as a government-run prison

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) A retired U.S. Army Green Beret soldier is questioning the potential acquisition of a former Walmart store by officials in Flathead County, Montana, to be used to expand a nearby jail because it appears as though the old retail space is much more than might be necessary.

As reported by the former Green Beret, writing under the moniker "Jeremiah Johnson" on the SHTFPlan.com alternative news website, the official reason given for the purchase is an expansion of the county jail. That seems odd, he writes, because "there is not that much crime in the area to warrant a purchase of this size" – 130,000 square feet.

"The capacity is listed for the existing county jailhouse as a facility that is built to house 63 prisoners at capacity holding on average 89 inmates at any given time," wrote Johnson. "So, then, if you do the math and even subtract half of the facility's area for allocation of offices, administration, donuts, and the like, that would leave thousands of square feet per inmate. As prisoners are crammed into cells, you can see the potential for having many cells."

He goes on to speculate that, should the facility be converted more into a prison than a local jail, it is possible that it could then be used by the federal government if the need arose – perhaps as a facility to house thousands of Americans who might be swept up in some sort of sting operation.

"Very strategic" location with rail lines that access the entire country

Johnson also reported that county tax levies were set to increase as well, with the goal of setting aside an additional $10 million for the project.

"Best thing to do to track this: follow the money," he wrote. "When those tax funds locally begin to be matched by federal funds from the regime, that will be the big indicator of the 'shift' that will occur from county to fed control of the facility."

He also noted additional details that he says should be tied to the purchase of the new jail facility. For one, he says, the location is "very strategic" in that it features a rail hub for track that "runs across the continental divide," hinting that prisoners from all over the country could be shipped there.

In addition, he says, there is another rail line running into nearby Kalispell, Mont., where a business development project is already underway to "transform a large gravel pit facility into a huge industrial railroad hub/park" – a project that has been underway "for a few years."

He said he believes that is not a coincidence.

"Happy addition to the correctional system"

"Guess what? The 'terminus' of that railroad hub will sit directly adjacent to our family-friendly, defunct Wal-Mart...soon to be a happy addition to the correctional facility system," he wrote (the "terminus" phrase could be a reference to the AMC network's hit series The Walking Dead, which included episodes last season featuring a rail hub called "Terminus" that inhabitants passed off as a safe haven but which was really set up to keep them fed with human victims).

Johnson wrote that there was a great deal of land surrounding the now-closed Walmart, and that the purchase price of $10.1 million is "almost exactly the amount expected to be generated by local revenues."

He said he would continue to monitor the situation and report what develops.

"We're going to monitor the daylights out of this one," he wrote. "We're going to investigate all of the contractors involved and see where the federal funds are going to be pumped into, as well as when and by whom (the agencies, etc.)"
