Police abduct and secretly hold 'free-range' children for playing two blocks from their home

by L.J. Devon, Staff Writer

(NaturalNews) A nanny police state mentality continues to rear its ugly and forceful head across the US, intimidating harmless, law-abiding American families. For some sick reason, authorities now think that they can control other people's lives, dictate their daily decisions and even force parents to raise their children a certain way. At the heart of the matter is the dangerous belief that the government owns the children, not the parents. More often than not, if an authority figure disagrees with a parenting style, then they think they can use their badge to strip the parent of their inherent right to make decisions for their family.

The truth about parental rights is this: It doesn't matter what kind of risks a parent may decide to take when raising their children. If a child is not being abused, authorities have no right to intervene at all.

But this is exactly where government "protection" agencies like the CPS overstep their boundaries and do more harm than good. A parent doesn't even have to commit a crime to be investigated and harassed by the CPS. They just have to be presumed dangerous based on the power trip of a CPS authority figure. CPS agents are trained to think that they know what's best for children so they "rescue" the child from a potentially dangerous set of parents that they don't agree with or understand. The agent will try to coerce the parent into signing away their rights. By wielding this artificial power, CPS agents actually kidnap the children from their parents and strip the parents of their right to make decisions on behalf of their own children. It's such an immoral abuse of power that any sane person should question the very necessity of a child protective service altogether.

If CPS agents can't respect a parent's rights, let alone show common sense in their judgment, then should these "protection" agencies even exist at all?

CPS swoops in and threatens to take children after they are caught just walking home

Earlier this year, police in Maryland picked up a 10-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl as they were walking home a mile from their house. While the officer was probably just concerned about the welfare of the children, the authority's decision to sic the CPS on the parents afterward was one of pure police state madness.

As Natural News first reported on the incident, Montgomery County Child Protective Services eventually showed up, forcing the children's parents to sign an agreement "stating that they would not leave their children unattended until CPS workers showed up a couple of days later." The children's father, Alexander Meitiv, said the CPS official threatened to take his children if he refused to sign the paper. Ultimately, the Meitivs were found guilty of "unsubstantiated" child neglect.

Alexander said, "I think what CPS considered neglect, we felt was an essential part of growing up and maturing. We feel we're being bullied into a point of view about child-rearing that we strongly disagree with."

Police kidnap children again and hold them captive for six hours

Since the first CPS altercation, the Meitivs have been watched closely. Now, it appears that they are being targeted. Are these parents being punished for asserting their rights as free individuals? According to interviews with the Meitivs, the family teaches personal responsibility and let's their kids walk home on their own. Authorities have called this child abuse and are now looking to punish the Meitivs.

This time, the Meitiv children were playing a couple of blocks from their home when a neighbor called the police. The children were supposed to be home by 6:30 pm, but instead they were abducted by police. Instead of letting the children play after finding out they weren't in any danger, the officer coerced them into his vehicle and took them away. Instead of taking them home, like he told the children he was going to, the officer kept them confined in his car for three hours and then took them to Rockville Child Protection Services, where they were held for nearly three more hours.

When the children didn't turn up by their 6:30 curfew, the parents frantically searched for their them. The parents said that the CPS didn't notify them until after 8:00 pm that night.

To get their kids back that night, the parents were forced to submit to the agency and sign a temporary safety plan. The children were released after 10:30 that night.

Police say a thorough investigation is underway to determine if the Meitivs will face charges.
