Belligerent TV doctors badger patients in violation of AMA's medical ethics standards

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) Some conventional doctors have decided to take their vitriolic bedside manner to the airwaves in hateful condemnation of the unvaccinated. Defying the clear standards set forth by the American Medical Association (AMA) for proper medical ethics, celebrity physicians like vaccine-lover Paul Offit are literally badgering parents into getting their children jabbed, and in the process violating the oath which they took when they promised to "do no harm."

In usual poor form, Offit has taken to comparing anti-vaccine advocates to religious extremists who still believe the world to be flat. A tired tactic of the pro-vaccination cult, Offit, in a recent editorial for The New York Times (NYT), accuses anti-vaccination parents of abusing their children, going even so far as to ask "what would Jesus do about measles"? with the manipulatively contrived answer being: He wouldn't allow parents to "martyr" their children.

Others who aren't so popular on television but who are currently receiving national media attention, including Dr. Dyan Hes, medical director of Gramercy Pediatrics in New York City, are flat-out refusing to see patients who don't toe the vaccine line. Dr. Hes, who anecdotally decreed that vaccines can't be dangerous because "I would have seen something bad happen [by now]," says parents who don't vaccinate their children can't be included among his patients.

Speaking to the NYT back in 2010, pediatric specialist Dr. Cynthia Cristofani referred to the anti-vaccine position as a "myth," likening all opposition to vaccines as "conspiracy theories." Even Dr. Mehmet Oz, who's given airtime to the issue of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), promoted the flu vaccine on his program during the H1N1 flu "scare."

Your child's vaccination status is private information; don't let the pro-vax mafia intimidate or harass you

And the list goes on as the mainstream media nudges the public ever closer toward mandatory vaccinations. But one thing that's being forgotten in all the manufactured chatter is the fact that vaccination status is a private affair. This means that nobody is entitled to know whether or not you or your children are vaccinated -- this is for you and you alone to know.

Licensed doctors are also bound by certain ethics protocols that forbid them from pressuring or coercing patients into making medical decisions against their will. Opinion 8.08 -- Informed Consent of the AMA's Code of Medical Ethics clearly states that:

"Physicians should sensitively and respectfully disclose all relevant medical information to patients."

This means making patients aware of the adverse effects associated with vaccines, as listed in vaccine package inserts. It is presumably safe to say that Offit, Hes and the others parading themselves in the national media aren't telling their patients that the MMR vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella can cause all of the following adverse effects[PDF]:

• Panniculitis (inflammation of the subcutaneous fat layer below the skin)
• Atypical measles (yes, the MMR vaccine can cause and spread non-wild-type measles)
• Vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels)
• Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
• Diabetes mellitus
• Thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count)
• Anaphylaxis (whole-body allergic reaction)
• Arthritis
• Encephalitis (inflammation and swelling of the brain, which can cause autism "symptoms")
• Febrile convulsions
• Aseptic meningitis
• Pneumonia
• Retinitis (inflammation of the retina of the eye)
• Epididymitis (inflammation of the coiled tube at the back of the testicle that stores and carries sperm)
• Death

"The patient's right of self-decision can be effectively exercised only if the patient possesses enough information to enable an informed choice. The patient should make his or her own determination about treatment," adds the AMA in clear opposition to mandatory vaccinations.
