Special Report: E-cigarettes double success of smokers trying to quit

by S. D. Wells

(NaturalNews) Have you had a "quit success" lately? A new study reveals that electronic cigarettes are helping people quit the "real thing" -- better known as "cancer sticks." New research shows that smokers trying to quit are as much as 60 percent more likely to succeed if they use "e-cigs" and see a specialist (rather than taking pills, using the patch or chewing nicotine gum) to begin the weaning process and get off the 7,000 chemicals (mainly pesticides and insecticides) found in most Big Tobacco brand names.

FACT: Smoking kills half of all those who do it regularly, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), and has a death toll of 6 million people a year -- that's as many people who died in the Holocaust. Since over-the-counter stop-smoking aids yield only about a 10 percent quit rate, if you've had one or more "quit failures," then it's time to consider a viable option.

The Rise of E-cigarettes

Out with the old and in with the new, they say. The pills, the patch and nicotine gum -- these are old methods with very low success rates and even side effects that are detrimental to health. Plus, the CDC's scare tactics of gruesome ads yield only a 4 to 5 percent success rate, and half of those smokers go back to cigarettes within six months. Plus, quitting rates are dismal for smokers who try to quit without a guide.

The new study done on 6,000 smokers, over five years, reveals some really good news for smokers. The unprecedented findings suggest that e-cigarettes could play an important role in cutting tobacco-related deaths and illnesses. Since cardiovascular disease is the world's number one killer, wouldn't it be a "breath of fresh air" to know that there's hope for smokers who switch to electronic cigarettes? (http://www.cbc.ca)

Funded by the charity "Cancer Research UK" and published in the journal Addiction, University College London's epidemiology and public health department led the study, which ran from 2009 to 2014. The results? -- Couple e-cigs with some specialist advice and you're on your way to ending the nicotine habit and addiction too. Whether quitting is gradual or "cold turkey" and whether the smoker had experienced failures at previous attempts were both factors in the quit rates. (http://www.reuters.com)

E-cigs may not have been invented as stop-smoking aids, but 60% of the time, they work! "So what?" they say. So what if electronic cigarettes still contain some ingredient found in antifreeze, and maybe some artificial flavors or colors, so what?! Ex-smokers are so happy to be off the horrible effects of commercial cigarettes, with all the sicknesses, the asthma, the bronchitis, the sinusitis, the bad breath, bad teeth, lethargy, sleeplessness, erectile dysfunction, and the list goes on and on.

Smokers are dead-tired most of the time, only getting things done during or right after a cigarette, but when the "chemical hangover" kicks in, they're left waiting anxiously and nervously for the next break to satisfy that "nic-fit" and quell their central nervous system imbalance. So, though e-cigs weren't invented to help people get off commercial cancer sticks, for hundreds of thousands, that's exactly what is happening. Compared to over-the-counter aids, e-cigs blow away the odds of quitting smoking, and very soon after switching over.
