NY police caught on tape slamming pregnant woman to the ground on her belly, causing bruising and bleeding

(NaturalNews) When public servants rudely go out of their way to pry into other people's business and interrogate them over the most trivial things, then they set themselves up for an unnecessary confrontation. When a public servant preys on people they think look suspicious, they have crossed the line and are no longer serving their community. A provoked civilian may feel threatened by overbearing officers who have no respect for privacy. Instead of setting people up, public servants should be building up communication and trust within a community. Sadly, officers are quick to cling to their authority, and when it feels threatened, they easily snap inside, showing no patience, going into a violent rage that automatically disregards others' civil liberties. To enforce the law, officers must stop acting on mental suspicions, delusions and fears.
When public servants engage in this kind of provoking, indecent behavior, violence easily breaks out and even innocent pregnant women can be abused in the process.
Video captures officer driving pregnant woman into the concrete
A disturbing video captured by a bystander in Brooklyn shows an officer tackling a clearly pregnant woman, driving her to the ground. The pregnant woman, a 5-foot 4-inch mother named Sandra Amezquita, was grabbed by the arm and thrown to the ground by some irate public servant who showed no reprieve. Riding her to the ground, the public servant drove the woman's five-month pregnant belly into the concrete. The incident occurred in Sunset Park around 2:15 a.m.
Amezquita's husband could only watch as the officers took out his wife. She hit the ground belly-first. The husband told news reporters, "The first thing I thought was they killed my baby and they're going to kill my wife."
The bruised Amezquita couldn't believe the officer's conduct. "You would think the police would respect a woman that is pregnant," she said. "I was afraid something happened to my baby. I am still afraid that something is wrong."

Even after the altercation, Amezquita still feels abdominal pain. She suffers from vaginal bleeding and has bruises on her belly and arms. The video shows her defending her 17-year-old son, who was the first to be harassed by the 72nd Precinct officers. The officers were allegedly trying to bust her son for possession of a knife. When he resisted arrest, the officers became violent. When Amezquita interfered, the officers took her down too, regardless of her pregnancy.
Oddly, defending herself and her family has been converted into a disorderly conduct charge. According to the officers, the husband was arrested for assaulting them. The husband said he was protecting his family. He tried to pull police off his son. The 17-year-old has visual bruises on his face.
Shouldn't public servants be making the streets safer, not perpetuating violence? Isn't it strange, the police tout that they are trying to make the streets safer by taking a knife off the street, but they end up beating up a teenager and a pregnant woman in the process?
"It is incidents like this that account for police-community relations being at an all-time low in New York City," said Sanford Rubenstein, the civil rights lawyer that Amezquita and her husband Lemos have chosen to represent their case.
