DHS stages massive small town 'invasion' with helicopters and assault teams to catch one guy accused of possessing underage porn

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) The federal overlords have staged yet another massive display of illicit police state force, this time in rural Illinois where the home of a man charged with possession of child pornography was raided by agents of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with the full backing of local law enforcement. According to reports, federal agents swarmed and terrorized the entire town in the process of apprehending the man, swooping in with armored vehicles, Black Hawk-style helicopters and other completely unnecessary weapons of war in their pursuit.

The Belleville News-Democrat (BND) explains that federal agents brought in multiple helicopters, armored vehicles and SWAT teams just to raid the home of 34-year-old Robert E. Godsey, who had no history of violence. Before raiding Godsey's home, the agents staged these outrageous weapons of war in the field of a nearby farm before finally converging on the man's property to execute a search warrant.

Weapons of government terrorism were also staged at the nearby A.R. Graiff Elementary School, where the superintendent was reportedly not even informed of the events that would take place there. Tactical vehicles from the Alton Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff's Office and a mobile command center for the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System, as well as an ambulance, medical helicopter and U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter, were all brought in for the gratuitous display of tyranny.

Police state spectacle a declaration of war against Americans

Chillingly, authorities had initially attempted to keep the purpose of the mission a secret. It was only shortly after it occurred that the truth finally came out, but this was hardly reassuring to many locals who saw it as a blatant invasion and possible declaration of war by a rogue government.

"It's better to be over-prepared," was the flippant response given by Jim Porter, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Illinois, when pressed about the scandalous nature of the raid.

Such appalling exploitations of law enforcement are quickly becoming the new norm, as Americans sit idly by and watch their country deteriorate without so much as a whimper of opposition. Now, whenever there is even the slightest suspicion that somebody might be breaking the law, the SWAT teams are immediately brought in to bust down the doors and essentially shoot everybody inside -- because, remember, it's better to be "over-prepared."

"All across the country, heavily armed SWAT teams are raiding people's homes," explains a report by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) about the militarization of law enforcement. "It should enrage us that people have needlessly died during these raids, that pets have been shot, and that homes have been ravaged."

"Our neighborhoods are not warzones, and police officers should not be treating us like wartime enemies."

And yet, this is exactly what is taking place in America today. Even if Godsey is guilty of his accused crimes -- it is important to note that, in many cases, individuals are falsely accused by the government of possessing and distributing child porn in order to cover up gross abuses of civil liberty -- there is absolutely no justification for terrorizing an entire town of innocent people in the process.

"Because they have to justify every tank,machine-gun [sic] and armored car to arrest a man in a rain coat," wrote one commenter for The Blaze in ridicule of the invasion. "These guys obviously are about as perverted as the child pornographer if the only way they can get sexual gratification is from playing invasion."
