Americans outraged as illegals to get free healthcare, schooling and legal representation

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) President Barack Obama is doubling down on outraging a sizeable portion of the American public through policies he is approving regarding the treatment and handling of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border in recent months.

In recent days, the president has requested $3.7 billion in new spending -- spending that is not offset by budget cuts elsewhere, meaning that it would add to the deficit that our children and their children will have to deal with -- to "pay for schooling, health care and lawyers for the unaccompanied illegal immigrant children surging across the border," The Washington Times reports. White House officials have asked Congress to expedite the request.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh (pronounced "Jay") Johnson said lawmakers had to approve the new funding quickly, in July, adding that, if nothing is done before Congress heads home for its traditional month-long recess in August, one of the agencies under his direction will have to cut immigration enforcement efforts in order to hold and transport the children. The Times further noted:

But Mr. Johnson and other officials faced bipartisan complaints that Mr. Obama's plan is "incomplete." Democrats said it fails to compensate local communities who are having to face the problem, while Republicans said Mr. Obama needs to spell out details of how he wants to change the law to make sure the children can be quickly deported.

Obama's policies have caused the current chaos

"He needs to work with us to get the right policy into effect -- not just throw money at the problem," Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate minority leader, said on the chamber floor this month.

The White House claims that it has been struggling for months to stem the flow of humanity; most of whom are coming from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, through Mexico. But critics of the president have said it was his executive order relaxing deportation measures in 2012 that created the rush in the first place. Some estimates say more than 300,000 aliens have crossed into the U.S. this year.

Besides legal and medical help, Obama's funding request would also provide social workers to house the children, add additional immigration judges to supposedly speed up deportation cases, and increase funding for immigration agents currently handling the massive surge, as well as detaining, processing and transporting the children.

Also, some of the $1.8 billion that was intended for the Department of Health and Human Services will provide for education and extraordinary healthcare for children who are in need. Finally, both the HHS money and funding for the Justice Department will go toward legal representation for the children, according to officials who discussed the measure with the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Measures should send a message: 'Don't come'

In sending the request to Congress, Obama said the pressure is now on Congress to solve the problem -- a problem that he created with his change in policy.

Lawmakers pushed back, saying they wanted to see a host of measures attached to the funding request. Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., said all the children should be put through criminal background checks with their home country embassies, to ensure that they don't pose a threat (http://foxnewsinsider.com). Others, including Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake, both of Arizona -- two senators who helped craft the Senate's immigration legalization bill last year -- said they would introduce measures that get tough on the latest surge.

The point is to discourage people from Central America and Mexico -- especially children and young people -- from believing that, if they can only cross the U.S. border, they will be afforded a foothold, along with the more than 11 million illegal immigrants already here.

"This crisis will continue until the parents who paid thousands of dollars to smuggle their children north to the United States see planeloads of them landing back at home -- their money wasted," McCain said.
