Sheriff Richard Mack presents to the Global Freedom Summit 2014

by J. D. Heyes

(NaturalNews) Former lawman and Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack is slated to be a featured presenter at a revolutionary online event known as the Global Freedom Summit 2014.

Mack, who is also an author and frequent speaker, has served in a wide variety of law enforcement roles over the course of his career, which began in Utah. After almost 11 years at the Provo Police Department, Mack moved to Arizona, ran for Graham County Sheriff, was elected in 1988 and served for two terms until 1997.

In 1994, Mack and six other sheriffs challenged the constitutionality of the Brady Bill, and fought it all the way to the United States Supreme Court, where they won a monumental decision for freedom.

Sheriff Mack founded the CSPOA (Constitutional Sheriffs and Police Officers Association), and serves on the board of directors for Oath Keepers.

More than anything, Mack is an ardent supporter and advocate of states' rights and, more importantly, the historic, constitutional law enforcement role of the county sheriff.

As for the governor of a state, "I believe that the most important duties of any state's elected officials should be to fight for states' rights, create limited government, take a strong stand against federal intrusions, and ensure the protection of individual rights," he says.

In a recent piece on states' rights, Mack says that states are the constitutional check on an imperial president. He wrote that the Constitution restricts the federal government to a few functions, while the Tenth Amendment specifically forbids federal intrusion into any matters that are not enumerated as federal functions -- which he points out are listed under Art. 1, Sect. 8.

"In perhaps the most recent and powerful Tenth Amendment decision in modern history, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Mack/Printz v U.S. that 'States are not subject to federal direction,'" Mack wrote. "But today's federal Tories argue that the 'supremacy clause' of the U.S. Constitution says that the federal government is supreme and thus, trumps the States in all matters. Wrong! The supremacy clause is dealt with in Mack/Printz, in which the Supreme Court stated once and for all that the only thing 'supreme' is the Constitution itself."

His talk is appropriately titled, "The Constitutional Peace Officer."

Gary Franchi, organizer of the Freedom Summit, says it will be "the single greatest freedom-loving event of the year."

He notes that the valuable information to be conveyed by nearly two-dozen presenter will be of the utmost importance to anyone who cares about liberty and freedom -- concepts that cut deeply across parties traditional right-left political lines. In particular, speakers will touch on a broad range of topics dealing with the restoration of personal liberties, rights and freedoms as envisioned by the Founding Fathers.

"Are you tired of the lies, deceit, and dishonesty streaming out of Washington, D.C.?" asks the site. "Are you exhausted with the corrupt policies implemented by the federal government? Are you interested in learning how to legally regain your rights, liberties, and freedoms? Have you answered 'yes' to any, and/or all of these questions? Then the Global Freedom Summit 2014 is the one event you cannot afford to miss!"

The global state of affairs is in flux. There are wars and rumors of wars, as the saying goes; there is the omnipresent threat of financial collapse; greed and corporatism have created a power, moneyed elite who move every day to consolidate power at the expense of the working class. And everywhere, it seems, freedom is in retreat, not on the advance.

In the United States taxes, regulations and corrupt bureaucracies combine to steal liberty and rob tens of millions of Americans of the opportunity to build a better life for themselves and their families. Elected officials seem to care only about getting elected -- and then remaining in office for as long as possible. They seem incapable of reasoned thought, of looking past next week in terms of determining sound public policy, and of stopping perhaps the most imperial president in the history of the country.

"Millions of American citizens have growing concerns about the direction the United States is heading in, both nationally, as well as internationally," says the summit website. There is little doubt that that is true.
