Report: Lady Gaga wasted 300,000 gallons of water in drought-stricken California to fill pool for music video shoot

(NaturalNews) Not all music stars, actors and actresses are pinheads. Some are very good, generous to a fault and very conscientious people. But singer Lady Gaga isn't one of them.
According to a report by Radar Online, an entertainment news site, the singer has come under fire for wasting a massive amount of water in drought-stricken California, and for nothing more than shooting her most recent music video:
The five-time Grammy Award-winner recently shot the video for "G.U.Y." -- it features a medley of songs off of ARTPOP -- at the historic Hearst Castle, a National and California Historical Landmark mansion located on the Central Coast of San Simeon, Calif.
Gaga, 28, utilized the iconic Neptune Pool at the famed estate, a perfect backdrop considering it offers an expansive vista of the mountains, ocean and the main house.
Leaking 5,000 gallons a day
According to the site, a source revealed that Gaga agreed to donate a quarter of a million dollars to the Hearst Castle Foundation, whose mission is to help preserve and restore the Hearst Castle's 5,000 artifacts, so she could have the pool filled with water from an irrigation plant on-site. The pool had to eventually be drained, because it was leaking 5,000 gallons of water every day.
The water was earmarked to be re-used on-site for irrigation purposes at the state park, but once the singer had finished filming, the water was found to be unusable, according to a source who works at the Castle.
"The water had to be chlorinated because Gaga got into the pool with synchronized swimmers," the insider, who asked not to be identified, told Radar Online.
"Since the water was chlorinated, it couldn't be used for any of the irrigation or landscaping at the Castle. The water was simply drained and disposed of.
"It was a huge waste of water which is such a precious resource in California at the moment because of the drought."
Praise for 'awareness' campaign
Last year -- 2013 -- was the driest year the state has experienced in 119 years. And the drought conditions have persisted into 2014.
In fact, in January, Gov. Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency, with a number of Californian communities imposing water-use restrictions.
In February, President Obama traveled to the state and announced a federal pledge of $183 million in aid for drought relief programs.
What is even more ironic -- or hypocritical, depending on your viewpoint -- Gaga has also agreed to film public service announcements educating Californians on how to save and conserve water.
It's unclear if the "Poker Face" singer was aware that the water was disposed of, Radar Online reported.
Gaga denies
"It's just ridiculous that all of that water was just dumped out after the video shoot was finished," said the source. "It's extremely hypocritical for Gaga to be filming PSA's telling Californian's how to save water, when she just wasted so much of it!"
What's more, the water waste did not seem to bother Gov. Brown much, who took the time to pen a thank-you note to Gaga, praising her for bringing awareness to the issue of conserving water.
"I want to personally thank you for the aid and assistance you are providing to Hearst Castle, the communities surrounding San Simeon and the state as a whole," he wrote.
"I've called on all Californians to conserve water in every way possible and the assistance you are providing will aide in that effort."
A rep for Gaga didn't respond to request for comment, though a spokesperson for California State Parks insisted that water chlorinated at "very low levels" was still "used for irrigation purposes at Hearst Castle."
