Japanese physician warns of increase in rare diseases, urges children and adults to move from radiation

(NaturalNews) A surge in rare diseases all across eastern Japan has prompted one prominent Japanese doctor to urge his fellow countrymen to move away from these areas, which he believes are poisoned by radiation from the infamous Fukushima nuclear disaster. ENENews reports that Dr. Shigeru Mita from the Mita Clinic in Tokyo has witnessed noticeable increases in persistent asthma, blood abnormalities and other problems that he believes stem from radiation exposure.
It all began in the summer of 2011, he told reporters, just a few months after the Fukushima disaster, when higher than normal numbers of children with unusual symptoms began to flood his office. Bloodshot eyes, dark circles under the eyes and sinusitis were some of the more common symptoms he observed, as well as persistent asthma symptoms that would carry on for long periods of time, something that he says was not the norm prior to the disaster.
Dr. Mita also says the average neutrophil count -- neutrophil is the most abundant type of white blood cell in the body -- has declined considerably in children between the ages of six and 12. Prior to Fukushima, the average reference value of neutrophil in healthy children was 4,000. Today, it is a mere 2,500, which is 500 below the threshold value of 3,000, and Dr. Mita believes this is indicative of a very serious problem.
"Radioactive substances coming from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant have reached Tokyo, and huge amounts of contaminated waste are being burned here as well," he stated during a recent interview. "I cannot deny the possibility that we are inhaling radioactive substances contained in the air ... [as] enormous amounts of nuclear substances were released in the environment."

Dr. Mita is advising both children and adults to vacate the affected regions and seek safety elsewhere. An increasing number of adult patients, he says, are also developing strange symptoms like extended bouts of asthma that are not responding to common treatment protocols. There has also been a considerable uptick in the number of deaths from these symptoms, especially among the elderly.
"The medication doesn't seem to work," he added. "We also see more patients with diseases that had been rare before, [such as] polymyalgia rheumatica.... Before [Fukushima], we had one or less patient per year. Now, we treat more than 10 patients at the same time."
It should be noted that a lack of neutrophil leaves the body prone to invasion by bacteria and fungi. Sometimes referred to as the "last bastion" of immunity, neutrophil protects the body against disease when all else fails, and a lack of it can lead to fatal conditions like septicemia, which is essentially a poisoning of the blood.
Dr. Mita says he has encouraged other doctors to conduct similar blood tests on their patients to look for damage that may be associated with radiation exposure, but many of them have simply refused, denying that Fukushima radiation could in any way be affecting their patients. Meanwhile, he continues to watch the health of his own patients deteriorate.
"What we need to do is to have one group of people who have been exposed to radiation and another group who have not been exposed; then conduct the same tests," he concludes. "But we don't even know how much the people in Tokyo were exposed in the first place. ... In other words, it's impossible under the present state to collect the kind of data that would be printed in a prestigious science magazine. Still, as long as I know that something strange is clearly happening, I can't just sit here doing nothing."
