Can raw food cure Lyme disease?

by Antonia

(NaturalNews) After struggling with complications from Lyme disease for the better part of 20 years, David Carron of Trooper, Pennsylvania, was offered the chance to participate in a raw foods transition program. Having tried the standard medical treatment and failing to see any lasting improvements, David was naturally looking forward to discovering what raw foods could do for him.

Symptoms improved, and weight was lost

To his surprise, a natural, healthy diet succeeded where traditional medication failed: David lost 30 pounds and saw many of his symptoms improve. Before going on a raw diet, David felt like he "barely had any energy to breathe." Because of his disease, he was fatigued most of the time.

What is Lyme disease and what causes it?

Lyme disease is caused by a species of bacteria and can be passed to humans through tick bites. Some of the early symptoms of infection include fever, headaches and fatigue. Most people will develop a rash around the bite area, but it's possible to never get a rash and to not even realize that you have been bitten.

When left untreated, Lyme disease can cause serious complications that may persist for many years. However, even with appropriate treatment, some people will still experience complications, the most common of which are fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

David spent thousands of dollars pursuing medical treatments that would rid him of these problems and help him regain his vitality, but nothing worked until his encounter with raw foods. After completing the program, David was so impressed that he decided to remain faithful to a vegan, raw food diet. "When I eat healthy, when I eat right, I have all the energy I can need. When I eat wrong, I feel it and my body lets me know," he explained in an interview.

Simple, highly nutritious routine

The best thing about David's routine is that it is not only nutritious but also very easy to follow. On a typical morning, he likes to have a large green smoothie with kale, apples, dates and bananas, which usually lasts him until lunch. If he does get hungry between meals, he'll grab an apple or a handful of dates. For lunch, David usually eats a salad topped with a delicious vegan dressing. If he gets hungry after lunch, he may eat a soup, an apple or a few dates. For dinner, he'll have a plate of zucchini pasta with homemade tomato sauce.
