CDC says heart disease deaths can be prevented by putting more elderly Americans on prescription medications

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) You can forget about all those legitimate disease prevention methods like avoiding hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, genetically-modified organisms and excess grains; exercising daily; and supplementing with omega-3s and other important heart nutrients. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has come up with a new, government-approved way for you to avoid dying from heart disease -- just take more statin drugs and blood pressure medications!

This was the implied recommendation recently issued by the CDC in response to the release of dismal new figures showing that roughly 800,000 people now die every year in America as a result of heart disease, a figure that accounts for about 30 percent of all annual U.S. deaths. For the first time ever, the CDC released its own report on heart disease that makes an estimate of how many people could have avoided such death if they only would have followed the agency's health advice.

And just what is this advice? According to Reuters, it includes a combination of "more effective public health measures, lifestyle changes or medical care," with extra emphasis on the medical care part. You see, the CDC, following the release of its report, immediately pointed to what it says are key elements of Obamacare that will supposedly help "reduce avoidable deaths" in the future, presumably by getting more currently-uninsured people on the drug rolls.

"As a doctor, I find it heartbreaking to know that the vast majority of people who are having a heart attack or stroke, under the age of 65 in particular, and dying from it didn't have to have that happen," stated CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden in a scripted lament. "Beginning in October, the health insurance marketplaces will provide a new way for people to get health insurance so more patients have access to quality health insurance and coverage beginning as early as January 2014."

CDC comically pushes Obamacare, more drugs as solutions to heart disease mortality epidemic

How incredibly convenient. Just in time for the inaugural launch of the Obamacare bureaucratic nightmare is the CDC with scary numbers about heart disease deaths that aim to push more people into signing up for government health insurance. And on top of this, the agency is shamelessly plugging drugs on behalf of Big Pharma in the process.

"National, state, and local initiatives aimed at improving health-care systems and supporting healthy behaviors are essential to reducing avoidable heart disease, stroke, and hypertensive disease deaths," explains the CDC in its report. "Strategies include promoting the ABCS (aspirin when appropriate, blood pressure control, cholesterol management, and smoking cessation), reducing sodium consumption, and creating healthy environments."

Sure, the CDC gives a small nod to so-called "healthy environments." But as explained by most of the mainstream coverage of the report, this primarily includes things like tobacco-free "zones" and "safe walking areas." Very little is being emphasized, in other words, with regards to healthy diet, which is hardly surprising when considering that the CDC has long aggressively promoted vaccines and drugs, rather than diet and exercise, as a strategy for disease prevention.

"We do expect that if people 40 to 64 get insured, get care and get good care, we will see significant reductions," added Frieden in a blatant endorsement of Obamacare, as quoted by NPR.
